Fantastic Site!! I just came across a 536 M1950 stove. When pumped, fuel comes up through the pump assembly. I took it apart and don't see that it has a "regular" checkvalve. Does the entire pump assembly have to replaced? I greatly appreciate any information. Thanks, Mike
MIKE.. welcome aboard..if you check out the "catalogues and parts"---then 1950 stove you will find a super detail exploded view of the stove and its parts... i would just get a new pump thru Ebay, they run about $10..there are "tubes" of spare parts also sold in the military replacement parts envelopes..just search ebay for "stoves"--i have one of these on my desk as i type..hint---don't try to clean the labels with alcohol..it will take the red dye off
OK, Dave - I need a couple of pumps, generators and other parts (wrenches, spares boxes) for these M1950/536 stoves. I tried the 'stove' search on eBay US as you suggested but no go - did I just strike unlucky at the moment? I could find only spares kits for M41 and M42 stoves. Any chance you (or anybody!) could point me in the right direction, please... [-o
There was a complete Bialaddin M1950 and a couple in bits from a seller in Lincolnshire, I think, last week. I thought you'd have been straight onto them, just in case. Current from the same seller.
Yeah, I got "the bits" which made up into one stove, more-or-less - that's why I need a pump and a couple of generators. I was going to go for the two previous Bialaddin M1950s he's sold, despite having one already - I love 'em! - but somehow I missed both auction-ends. Ian Bingham got the second of the two for a very reasonable price and I know he's been after one for a while, so that was good. I thought America would be awash with spares and service parts for these stoves - but apparently not...
Try; Ebay US > Collectibles > Militaria and search for 'stove'. Despite what they might say in the listings, most sellers will ship abroad if you ask them nicely.
Hello, Hold on there a min. You don't need to replace the pump assembly. The small rubber seal inside the check valve or Non-return valve has dried up and is not sealing anymore. When you take the pump out on the bottom is a small nut. Use a cresent wrench and remove it. Be careful as there is a spring inside. When you remove ot you will find a spring and a small brass cup. The cup will have a small black piece of rubber sitting inside it.That piece has dried and is now hard as stone. Take a saftey pin and dig it out. Roll the mosue over my e-mail and send me your address. I will mail you some that I have made from nitrile rubber. Chuck
It could well be that there's one remaining in the spares kit inside the pump-tube, Mike. Have a look inside there, first - just unscrew the cranked handle at the top of the pump...
Thanks guys!! I was close to going onto ebay to bid on a pump assembly. There are not any spare parts with this ol' stove. This little stove is new to me, so I was unfamiliar with the parts/gaskets that it needs. Again, I appreciate the help! Mike
Very unusual for me to beat your bidnapper, David! Anyway, I tride it and it works pretty well. It does splutter what I think is unvapourised fuel every 5 seconds or so, and the whole assembly including the fount gets to hot too handle. Is this usual? Ian
No, you didn't beat my Bidnapper, Ian - I didn't enter a bid that time. You probably wouldn't have if I had... I haven't had mine lit for a while but I don't remember it becoming unduly hot - nor does it splutter. I'll run it (ahem, them! 8) ) tonight and see how hot the tank gets. Maybe you need to give it a good flush out and/or change the vapouriser. Are you using petrol or panel wipe?
