Hi, just joined the site and wanted to know if you can use Coleman fuel in a Radius stove. Also heard you can use paraffin oil in them. Is that the same lamp oil I use in my oil lamps? I'm hooked. I bought my first Svea 123 at a yard sale down the road from my camp at Moosehead Lake in Maine for 5 dollars this summer. Since then I acquired an 80/71/8R/99, don't tell my wife she will think I'm crazy. Always had a thing for stoves be it petrol/alcohol/wood. I guess one could have a worse addiction. When I started looking at the old stoves I was in my glory. Any help would be appreciated, thanks.
@robert letellier Robert, The type of fuel (Coleman fuel or kerosene) depends on what model Radius stove you have. The stove number or a photo would help decide. The lamp oil in Australia that is marketed for wick lamps is not a suitable alternative to kerosene in pressure lamps or stoves. Wick lamp oil is certainly is not suitable as an alternative to Coleman fuel. Best regards Tony
@robert letellier Welcome! Tony's advice is spot on, lamp oil as sold here in the USA isn't suitable for kerosene appliances either.
I was given a couple pints of Lamplighter lamp oil, surprisingly it works very well, no smell either. Tried it in a 210 and another stove. Maybe its the brand. Duane
@robert letellier Welcome to ccs. As said, It matters which Radius stove you have. We like photos. My wife appreciates my stove collection. And, yes, I too have stove pox. For kerosene stoves, I recommend clear undyed 1K kerosene. Ken in NC
