How do, not been on here in aaaaaaaaages...... I want to get my Stesco sorted out (at the last and only meet up I went to people suggested it may be the wick is fubar....). To that end can the riser tube loop section be cut off and re welded back in place once a new wick has been threaded through? Tar, muchly
I would like to know how you can re weld the burner loop without re fubaring the wick....seems to me that it is the wick being run dry and cooking it that fubars it in the first place...
Have you tried tipping the stove upside down for a couple of minutes to soak the wick? Let it stand for a minute or two after tipping and then light it. Mine was very dry when I got it and it started very slowly the first couple of times I tried to use it. I was fearful about its wick but I've since decided that it was just bone dry. Regards John

well I tried turning it upside down, it didn't make a difference, something that did make a difference though, was putting either the pricker wire in the hole or 15 amp fuse wire inn moving it about till I got a good blue n roaring flame but alas you move it a fraction n it fanishes.....I'm wondering if a previous owner has made the hole too large somehow which has knackered the pressure at which the vapour comes out of said hole?
just got this, the hole was blocked, but a bit of elbow grease done the job, what is the best way to turn these off, as i nearly blow meself up
Invert a metal bucket and place it over the stove to deny oxygen. Or, Blow out the flame. The third option is to get a proper stove.... Best Regards, Kerophile.
^ good advice above^ I left a mint one of these in a store once due to it being short and unregulated. I think the instructions on the can say "blow the flame out to extinguish.... having a Primus 70 and having tried to blow its flame out when it was super hot..... with the flame spreader glowing red hot and reigniting the vapor instantly.... I saw a problem.... don't want to vent pressure so close to ignition source aye The one I left had the tappered cork with plastic or bakerlite knob that is used to seal the coil when stowed, I noticed that the corked was blackened by flame, suggesting it had been inserted to extinguish the flame also, if I had bought it, that's how I would have put it out.
@kerophile , I have got a few proper stoves, , just wonted one of these, as petrol stoves go, this type is quite good, now that I have learnt to blow out flame and not open the cap, good for a cup of coffee and a egg banjo
having to repair a stesco, the tube is blocked, the wick has gone solid, any way, got old tube out, and replacing it with new one, the wick, got 3mm fire door stuff, how much do you put in, all the way though so you have 2" or so sticking out, or just a inch or 2 in ether hole
