    hi folks

For many years I've used an Enders 9063 'baby' stove when motorbike camping - I even ran it off 50:1 premix on trips with an MZ two-stroke. More recently I built a diesel motorbike, and sometimes I have to scab petrol off other folks when camping to warm up my tin of beans or make a cuppa. This is good for making friends at first, but over time their patience might wear off...

So - I wonder if anyone can suggest a small pressure stove which will run on diesel. I already have problems with fuel-logistics on the bike as I carry a can of filtered WVO to mix at 50/50 with diesel, which it runs on when warm. Adding a can of petrol or paraffin (and then there's meths for priming!) is a bit more than I want to deal with. The bike is old, tired and scrappy and suggestions along these lines would be particularly welcome.

    cheers
    Mark

I think the British #12 will run on diesel, but you need a tank to carry it...lol

If you are only heating water I think the MSR XGK will run on diesel. Hopefully users can chime in about the cleaning routine and interval.

The MSR XGK-Ex with the X-Jet was designed for diesel, and according to MSR their Dragonfly will also run on diesel, and the Optimus Polaris Optifuel and Nova.

No input on stoves beyond what's been suggested, but can we get some more info on the bike? I swapped an OM617 into the Toyota in my avatar, diesel swaps are near and dear to my heart.

If you use a kero stove, your diesel bike will run on kero if needed.

The Optimus 111T can be used with diesel.

It is called a tripple fueled stove but Optimus added diesel in the instructions at a later date.

I have tested it on diesel as well with kerosene, gasoline and methylated alcohol.
It runs OK on diesel but personally I prefer kerosene.

I enjoyed the 'tank' reference. By way of introduction here I am trying very hard not to get stuck getting in to one we found on holiday, and wondering if I am going to be able to get back out again. The excess baggage was prohibitive so we had to leave it there.

Also here's my mate's brother trying very hard not to fall off my diesel bike.

Optimus 111T - '111' come up for sale regularly, is the burner different on '111T', or the jet orifice, or...?

Great bike, I see it's turbo'd. What engine did you use? What kind of MPG do you get? How much weight did the diesel swap add, if any? Did you document your build anywhere online?

Ah, I don't want to take this way off topic for this forum - I'm new and mods will be upset! Unfortunately the forum where I documented the build died, and all my history went with it. A little more stuff is available here on more recent developments, if you're interested.

    http://www.suckindiesel.com/thingy/...daihatsu&sid=c381fac77bd8069f04a1af3795d8d36a

In rief, mpg is about 100 on a good day, or 200 if you're running 50/50 wvo and the wvo was free. Weight - extreme. Brakes - drum front and rear, poor. Engine - from Daihatsu Charade, 993cc 3-cyl turbo-diesel.

If you'd like to read about it there and PM me any questions here, I'd be pleased to tell you more about it.

Meanwhile I think i might be too much of a tight-wad to buy something to burn diesel, so stove fuel complications look like they're here to stay!

    cheers
