I just bought new Primus Omnifuel stove. In the box there is a date stamp with day, month and year. Like this 25.07.2013. That is very clear. In pump I notices stamped code U8 and same code was stamped to fuel line connector that can be screwed to gas cartridge's Lindal valve. From stove/burner itself I was not able to find any markings. Would that U8 be some code with some meaning? Has anybody else seen similar codes in newer Primus stoves?
I checked my other "newer generation" Primus stoves and they seem to have similar codes : Primus Omnifuel with bell shape outer body. This I bought somewhere around 2001 or 2002. It's Lindal valve connector has code "5M". This stove came with Ergopump and NRV end is black. In pump there is no codes. I have box somewhere but not sure where. Primus Omnifuel with bell shape outer body. This I bought somewhere around 2012 for spares. It's Lindal valve connector has code "P5". There was no pump, no box nor ther parts with the stove. Primus Express Spider MF. This I bought 2014. It's Lindal valve connector has code "U4". This stove came with Ergopump and NRV end is red. In pump there is code "U5". Date stamp in the box is 03.05.2013 Primus OmniLite Ti. This I bought 2013. It's Lindal valve connector has code "T8". This stove came with Ergopump and NRV end is red. In pump there is code "T6". Date stamp in the box is 08.08.2012 Primus OmniLite Ti. This I bought 2014. It's Lindal valve connector has code "V2". This stove came with Ergopump and NRV end is red. In pump there is code "V2". Date stamp in the box is 20.02.2014 Is the letter the manufacturing year and number is manufacturing month? Maybe U=2013 and V=2014? 8-[
I can't answer your question, but I can contribute with what stands on my own newer Primus stoves. Multifuel: J2, 13.02.2002 Eta express: P9, 26.09.2008 I also have a Gravity with 4M. I got this in 2008, so it is manufactured in 2008 or before.
Yes, I couldn't wait anymore so just an hour ago I wrote/send a message for them through their web site.
Yes those codes does means something, and it is a code for dating. On the silver colored label that is hanging on the lindal valve of all Primus (and Trangia that are made by Primus) stoves it stays: 'Date stamp on valve'
I looked again those codes on Primus stoves and dates on boxes... Maybe this is not correct information since I don't haven't found receipt nor the box: Maybe letter on code is for year and number for something else, could it be month of manufacture? Letters maybe are for years as this: A 93 B 94 C 95 D 96 E 97 F 98 G 99 H 00 I 01 J 02 K 03 L 04 M 05 N 06 O 07 P 08 Q 09 R 10 S 11 T 12 U 13 V 14 X 15 Y 16 Z 17 We need more codes from stoves and date stamps from boxes...
If that list is correct, then it is a major breakthrough. Why did I not think of that?!! It will be very interesting to hear from members who can contribute to this thread.
These codes & dates in my post: Primus Express Spider MF "U4" 03.05.2013 Primus OmniLite Ti "T8" 08.08.2012 Primus OmniLite Ti "V2" 20.02.2014 and these codes & dates in @afoton 's post: Multifuel "J2" 13.02.2002 Eta express "P9" 26.09.2008 Gravity "4M" 03.05.2005 are according to that year vs. letter list. Since my first post on 2014 I have bought two Omnifuel stoves when the model changed and old model was for sale with low price. I forgot that I have those... I need to check codes & dates from them also. When I have change to visit some store that sells hiking stuff I'll check few stoves for codes & dates.
I checked codes and date stamps from this Omnifuel: https://classiccampstoves.com/threads/primus-omnifuel-328984-2013.28362/ and other Omnifuel that I bought at the same time. Both stoves and pumps had code "U8". Both boxes had date 29.08.2013 stamped to them. (They must be from same manufacturing batch.) Both of them are in-line with above list. Number in code looks quite much to be a month. More input is needed to confirm weather assumptions for above date codes are valid...
I would lovvvvve the number to be the month of manufacture. If so, then the number should be between 1 and 12, but not higher than that. Hopefully other members can contribute.
I found box of this Omnifuel: Box has date 25.5.2005 stamped on to it. Looks that I remembered the purchase time a bit wrong... Year and month looks to be in-line with above assumptions. I have bought that Omnifuel on 29.6.2005 from Estonia (sometimes I write purchase date and place to box or on item when I buy stuff...). So stove was just one month old when I bought it. At that time they made Primus stoves in Estonia (maybe still?) since box has text "Made in Estonia".
According to https://www.primus.se/om-primus/125-framgangsrika-ar/ their production has been, and still is, in Tartu in Estonia since 1999.
I don't know this would help or not, hope yes. Recently I've purchased a new 328990, the inside of box - stamp says 13. 04. 2021 (so dd.mm.yyyy as EU style) And the LV has G3 Ergopump has G4 --- Meanwhile very strange thing - The ergopump NRV holder is BLACK! huh afaik recent ergopump has Red part, but I'm not sure my information is correct or not. The Fuel bottle - It doesn't have Product origin declaration. Or I missed it due to my poor eyes...
