I received this stove Flamme Bleue Fourneau No.0 from France. As you can see a lot of rust but only surface, so no real problem. This stove is the smallest of the Fourneau line, two wicks 6.5 cm. So far it`s restored. The tank needs more cleaning, one handle is in progress and new wicks are needed, so more pictures when that is done
Hi The underside of these tanks, often have the dates stamped on them, and other numbers also. One of the downsides of these is that they often suffer stress fractures.
Hi John, the chimney is the original old one. After removing the rust I painted it with high temperature spray. It is produced in Belgium by Spray Color Company. After painting I put it in oven at 160 degrees C for 1.5 hours. The glossy black paint is from Rumania, also high temperature; but awful smelling.
Hi Iani, there are at least 4 different version of tanks. upper part is made of tin, lower part made of brass. No marking or serial.Made in Paris. Wire-Handle. These tanks have different handle. I only have seen those from Flamme Bleue items produced in Vienna/ Austria. All I`ve seen have a serial stamped on top. Made complete of brass. Wire-handle. Made in Paris. One single number stamped in the bottom. Made complete of tin. Wire-handle, made in Paris. This version with removable top for wick change and easier cleaning.This was availlable for all size of tanks. No marks or serials. So, all tanks I have or have seen from Austria production seem to have a serial on top; and have a different handle. Several tanks from Paris do have a single number on the bottom side or nothing at all.
Hello, 'Keeper', Yours is a sweet restoration! I have a flamme bleue No.2 [2 wick model, tank stamped 22 J 24]. Frame is very similar to your No.0, but has two fold-out upper grate wings on the top. Underside of tank is definitely brass, upper? not sure yet, but likely tin. The top wick access is removable (disk holding the wick feeding mechanisms with 3 brass hold-down thumb screws). The Name plate that is attached to frame is difficult to read, (Flamme Bleue, and I can barely make out "Fourneau") Name Plate is likely not made of brass (I've not tried to clean it yet). Would like to know, what is the best fuel to burn in it? The flame viewing Mica 'window' is gone; any suggestions where to buy replacement? Also, it has two 4.79 inch wide wick openings, and am wondering where to buy the the wicks in the States. (I've located a British supplier on ebay) Any discussion is appreciated. Regards, Mac
