I supposed I had turned off the stove. I come in for prepare the tea. And few minutes later I was going to keep the Phoebus 725 in their teen when I saw the stove in flames! I need good excuse for explain my wife this black round on the wall
HOLY MOLY @pau-i-amor , THAT was a very narrow escape from what could have been far worse then some black marks on the wall!! YIKES!! I'm SO very happy that you did not burn down your home!!! Hopefully, you can clean off much of the soot from the wall, and then refinish it to match the rest of the paint!!! You are right in that we should not leave our stoves unattended. I once did that, and found that I'd melted a hole in the cook pot, and flames were jumping high inside my canvas tent!! By God's Good Graces, I did not burn down the tent, nor harm anything else, but my own self-esteem!! I keep the melted down pot, the lid of which totally evaporated, as a reminder of what happens when you leave a stove going unattended!!! Praise God that this accident was not worse for you, my friend!!!! You are blessed, even if you ARE going to get into trouble with you lovely wife!! Good luck, and let us know how it turns out! Blow off from the safety-valve or defective filler gasket? Used a O-ring as a gasket in the filler cap? A O-ring does fit somehow, but is not safe when hot. A flat ring gasket is needed there. Radler

First at all: Excuse my poor english knowledge and some mistakes! Teen is tin, round is circle... @Radler, you are right! A defective filler gasket was the reason of this disaster. Filler cap was fully tightened. I need a big wrench to open it. I was afraid to broke the cap "ears". Luckily for me, I always check stoves oudoors.

Hi, Pau! Again, I'm very happy that you did not incur more damage than you did!! That was a blessing! The "SRV" is the Safety Release Valve that is inside the fuel cap of your Phoebus 725. When you rework the cap, you will need a proper gasket to seal the cap, and also to open up the slotted circle at the time of your cap, and replace the little pip that's inside it. There should be a spring assembly, and your rubber pip. The SVEA 123, 8R, and many other self-pressurizing stoves, have these safety release systems built into the fuel caps. If you look in the fettling area, I seem to recall a good post about how to service one of these on the 725. It may have been written by @presscall , but I can't remember, for sure. Replacing your safety pip is fairly easy, and if you need a pip, I may be able to send you one. I'll have to check to make sure the ones I have will fit the 725. Talk soon, my friend, and God Bless! Hi, Pau, You are most welcome! I dug out one of my old 725 stoves, found in Santa Fe, New Mexico, many, many years ago, and bought as part of a blow-out sale at what was a local Wilderness Canoe Outfitters. Got it for $20! It came with it's original tin, the complete stove, and a NIB Phoebus rebuild kit. I bought other stoves from that Gentleman that day, including an Optimus 00, and my first Optimus 22B!! It was a GRAND day to have found such bargains, and been in the right place, at the right time! But, as usual, I digress.... Here are a few photos which show the SRV, and what parts make up that bit of safety kit. It pays to have a very good set of screwdriver bits, like my old Gunsmithing set from Brownell's, which is probably 40 years old! Here goes: Pick a nice, hollow-ground bit, that fully fits the screw slot. Remove the round nut holding the SRV in place, and the parts will be easy to remove from the fuel cap. Note how they go back together, for reassembly later. Looking down onto the SRV pip in it's brass carrier. You can easily see that the pip is really indented, and if beginning to mushroom over the edges of it's carrier. (sorry about the stray hair on the dirty old work towel on which these photos were taken. One of the problems with both SB and me having long hair!) After using a sharp awl, to pop out the pip, it's definitely "wasp-waisted". Turning it over, just to see if the other side was usable, I found it was not. Both sides were as hard as rocks, and it appears that some previous owner had already turned it over, a long time ago!! The SRV simply doesn't work very well, when the pip is like that, as you may have found out with your own stove!! If my sheet of Viton is the right thickness, I'll try to punch you out a few spares of these, and make sure to send them your way. It's possible I can have them for you by April 27, or so, if you can wait that long. I'll let you know if it's possible for me to make some for you. The problem is not the safety-valve. This valve does not open and close often, as a pump valve does, and so it does not wear out. It doesn't matter much, whether the pip is hard or not. It only must hold gas-tight and must be clean and not be sized. If the pip in the safety-valve is leaking, a self-pressurising stove without pump, as the Phoebus 725, just will not pressurise and not work. The problem is the gasket in the filler cap. It must be a flat gasket, heat-proof, and gasoline-resistant of precise size. Some use O-Rings, but these are not save, because of their shape. The filler cap is not shaped for O-rings. They may creep out of the filler-cap under pressure and heat impact. Then you have a problem. Radler
