Evening, Mates, Today, I decided to check out the neat little Penny Stove that Wade recently sent me. Here's a photo of it, doing what it does best, with my Trangia red kettle on top of it. The only windscreen that I have on hand, which will work with this stove, is the interlocking one that came with my Trangia Westwind setup. I have no idea is this will actually work in the woods, but it worked pretty good here in the house!! I didn't time it, but this little stove boiled up a kettle of water in a very short time! And, here's the actual "penny", which Wade supplied, by the way!! As you can see, this little guy is a "giant", performance-wise!! It's supposed to be the best of the lot, when compared to other popcan stoves. And, it's supposed to be the most fuel efficient, too. Later tests will let me know if this is true, or just hype. But, it worked pretty good today, and I'm quite pleased!! Many thanks, Wade, for the gift of this neat little stove, and also the Optimus Eagle 1000 parts, too. I'll get a chance to mess with those parts soon, and will report my findings. Take care, and God Bless! Every Good Wish, Doc Mark
Yep that was my first stove to build i j b weld it together i have seen it leak there plus on the Penney deal you can use a stone or anything on the hole not to heavy cause that is your pressure relieve valve so i made more all different types thats how i got started on all these stoves most of these alcohol stoves can boil 20 oz. water on a 1/2 oz. alcohol burn time about 6 to 8 min.
Yep 1 ltre in 5-6 min should be about right Doc in a 91 windsceen I think they are one of the hottest and most stable flame of the pressure type soft drink can stoves I have made so far. Be easy on the preheat or you will waste too much fuel
Very nice Doc I am glad that you like it. I use my for a boil of tea or citric acid (koolaid for cleaning brass burners) I am not too sure about using it in the field though. I have not thought of trying it. I do have a pretty good design for a pot stand I will try to post some pictures of it when I get a chance. Wade
