Is there a source to purchase parts for the Optimus 111T? I'm looking for the jet to burn spirits/alcohol and the tube restrictor for it. Thank you
Hi, @olive , Where to you live? In the States, you might try A&H Enterprises. Here is their website link: A&H Enterprises - Optimus Parts You can contact them and ask if they have what you need. And, if you live in the UK, you can get those parts from The Basecamp, which is a sponsor here at CCS, and a great place to buy parts! Mike is a great guy, and many of us in the States place our orders with him. base-camp.co.uk Did you read my old post about Meths restrictors? If not, please give this a look, and you will see that you might want to make your own, rather than buy one. Regarding air restrictors in the 199, et.al. I hope that helps you, and good luck in your search, both for knowledge, and for parts!! Take care, and God Bless! Every Good Wish, Doc
thank guys. I'll check out Basecamp as AH Enter. doesnt seem to have much. They use to have an ebay account, but no more. Doc, I look forward to reading over your great write up. Thanks!
Is the alcohol jet a diy project like the restrictor too? Can a regular multifuel jet be opened up for spirits/alcohol or is that not how it works?
@olive, Buy a Meths jet from Basecamp, and call it good! They have the "real deal", and not a DIY muck-up. Word to the wise.... Doc
I checked out Basecamp website and I came away understanding one cannot safely use a credit card on their website. It sounds like you have to mail or fax your info or have a paypal. Being i do not have a paypal account ordering from Basecamp doesnt seem like an option for me. Would drilling a regular 2509 jet and opening it up to .508mm/.02" be a tricky task? I understand it is drill bit #76 that would open a jet to the proper diameter for burning spirits. Anyone try this?
@olive , Without a smart phone, digital camera, or a PayPal account, you are in a very hard place. It's going to be next to impossible to take and post photos here, and you will not be able to buy from the best Sellers, who almost always have what we need, in the way of original parts for our Classic stoves!! I feel bad for you, but can't make any suggestions as to how you should best go about doing what you want to do. Sorry to be the bearer of the bad news, and not telling you this to be mean, or anything. Just thought you might like to know the disadvantage under which you are currently laboring. I wish you the best, in any case, and God Bless! Every Good Wish, Doc
@olive I buy from Base Camp often. I provide my credit card details split into separate communications. You could even phone them. I’ve never had a problem. If you don’t want to do that, then buy from Fogas ( Gasol & gasoltillbehör - Sveriges bredaste sortiment | Fogas ) Tony
@Tony Press , I seem to recall that @olive uses a computer at the Pubic Library, and is that is, truly, the case, I'd strongly recommend NOT typing in pass words, cc numbers, or any other thing that you don't want hackers to access. Many of those computers are easy pickings for a crook who knows how to bust into them. I certainly would never post sensitive financial information in such a place. One other thing, we don't know much, at all about Olive, including where he lives. Had he shared that info, back when I asked him to do so, we might have been able to point him to a nearby CCS Stovie who could help him, personally. Also, knowing where he lives would help us send him to trusted retailers, or sellers near him. Just saying....... Take care, and God Bless! Every Good Wish, Doc
Doc You are indeed correct in identifying the security issues around the public library computer use. Cheers Tony
There was a part I needed for an item, not a stove, and I did not wish to give any information about myself to that seller. I had a friend buy it for me online. He dealt with them all the time. Easy Peasy. There is a way.
Have the retailer send you an invoice via PayPal. In the invoice will be an option to pay by CC without having a PP account. You may have to look around for it, it may be after clicking "pay this invoice" or some such thing that the option to pay by CC comes up. This doesn't get around the very real security dangers of using a public computer, but it's a step past the lack of PP issue. Perhaps you have a friend with a computer you can use?
I just use the IXQUICK/Startpage search engine at the library. No issues yet after several years of use. IXQUICK is touted as the world's safest search engine. I believe it is out of the Netherlands and is encrypted, unlike your Google etc. that creates backdoors for big brother to access your info. I wouldn't own a computerphone even if uncle Sam provided it for free. Marc, that sounds like a good option. I think that is how ebay sales work many times too. I may just buy an extra gas jet and drill it out with the #76 bit if I cannot find the proper spirit jet. Home Depot sells the #76 bit for a few bucks. How much is a site membership and what does one benefit from? Thanks for all the help guys.
Hey, @olive , In a comment above, I wrote: "One other thing, we don't know much, at all about Olive, including where he lives. Had he shared that info, back when I asked him to do so, we might have been able to point him to a nearby CCS Stovie who could help him, personally. We have CCS Guys and Gals all over the US, and the World. Just figured one might be able to help you, if someone is near you. No worries if you don't wish to post that info. Good luck, and God Bless! Doc
The issue isn't the search engine. Startpage may not store your info, but no matter how you find the site, if you go ti the site then your info is being tracked on some level. If there's a virus or tracking program on the computer you're using(very likely on a public computer), then how safe the search engine you use makes not the slightest bit of difference at all. The library may well intentionally track everything done on their computers purely for liability reasons. I 100% agree with Doc and Tony, I would never put my personal financial information into a public computer. Perhaps you can buy a prepaid credit card or gift card and use that for online payment. If(when) the card is compromised, you've limited your risk. It's been probably a decade since I've used one, but in the past many retailers wouldn't accept gift cards for online purchases as there was no address associated with the card for security verification. This may or may not still be the case. Good luck.
Ok, drill the hole. It would be fitting that a stove be fettled before one has to use new technology to purchase the correct part. That said, you could also snail mail a check, or money order, and have the correct jet snail mailed back to you. I assume you are in the USA after reading some of your posts.
I use to have my info on here, but then for some reason last year it disappeared after being away from this site for a while. I'll fill out the info page again soon.
