A local thrift store has a Sigg Tourist cook set NIB for the Coleman Peak One stove for only $25. I do not care to have that stove, but was wondering if this Peak One Sigg cook set would work with the Svea 123 stove? ? They do not want to break the box seal for me to try, so I was hoping someone would know before I buy. Thank you

    Hi, @olive ,

Unfortunately, the Sigg kit made for the Peak One, is a bit different than the one for the SVEA. The Sigg kit for the Peak One is only a round windscreen that sits on the stove, as shown in Ken's post above. The Sigg kit for the SVEA 123, completely encloses the stove, and thusly, blocks the wind quite a bit better than the P1 kit does. But, that having been said, we have used, and still use, both kinds of Sigg kit, each made as a proprietary cook set for each stove. Ken has it right! Take care, and God Bless!

Some photos to show the differences:

Now for the Sigg/Peak 1 version:

And, the Sigg Tourist kit for the SVEA 123:

Incidentally, the two pots came from the same Sigg set, to show you that both Sigg pots work with either windscreen on both stoves. I hope this helps you see the differences better.

    Hey, @olive ,

Just an FYI: You may not like the 550 stoves, but if you have, or plan in getting the fantastic and wonderful Peak ! Model 400, the Sigg kit you can buy for only $25 will fit that stove, too!! WELL worth your time and money!!!! The M400 is a classic, and very, very hard to beat! Powerful, simmers better than most home ranges, and very dependable, if you have not tried one, you should do so IF you can find a nice one!! That stove is worth the money, too!! Here, at our very first CASG, up near Morro Bay, CA, Ol' Doc is pointing to his old faithful Model 400 (the brown version), which was the very first backpacking stove he and Sweet Bride ever bought!! If you look carefully, you will see the Sigg windscreen for the Peak 1 stoves, leaning against the left side of that blue box, on which the Peak 1 sits. Still have both stove and windscreen, and they still works perfectly!!

    Take care, and God Bless!

    Every Good Wish,

Thanks guys. Doc, what model Optimus is that in the middle(grey with left side handle)? Would the Peak One Sigg kit fit my Coleman 530 or Coleman Rodgers M1950? Those are the only Colemans I have except for the 523 double doctor sterilizer unit.

    Hi, @olive ,

You're welcome! The Optimus stove about which you asked, is their Hiker 111C. I am not a fan of the original 111C, like mine, as it had a steel tank and was rather poorly machined, at least in the one that I have. Here's one in the Stove Reference Gallery:

    111c

Some folks have replaced their Model C steel tanks with a standard, brass 111, or 111B fuel tank. Works better, IMHO. Hope hope that helps. But, in truth, the Optimus Hiker+ is, in my opinion, a much better stove, as shown here:

    Optimus Hiker+

It has the Nova burner, and mine has a brass fuel tank, as others have found on theirs. A step forward, in my book.

AS to the Sigg kit, and your other Coleman stoves, unfortunately, it will fit none of those, in my experience. Stick with SVEA 123, with it's proper Sigg kit, and/or the Coleman M400, with it's proper Sigg kit, and you're in for a treat!! Take care, and God Bless!

Doc, Thank for the info. I was hoping that grey tank was paint over brass. Have any of the Optimus 111 ever been made anywhere but Sweden? I noticed my Brunton Nova that was made in Sweden, eventually changed and became an Asian made Nova Plus. My Nova plus is starting to fail, but not the original Nova. Is the 111 with Nova burner made outside of Sweden?

    @olive ,

My Optimus Hiker+ has a brass fuel tank, painted green. Many others here have the same one. Mine is "Manufactured in Sweden". For what it's worth. As to the Nova Plus, I seem to recall that this version had a very "iffy" reputation for poor reliability. I wasn't interested in the regulating wheel being up near the pump and fuel tank, and did not buy one of those. See some of the reports about poor reliability here:

    Optimus Nova+, nice but.....

Use the "Search" function here at CCS (top right corner), to find out more about the Nova Plus and also any other stove about which you seek good information. Have fun, and God Bless!

In that kind of shape, for that kind of money, you should've jumped on it. Even as a spare set of pots for a proper Svea 123 Sigg Tourist.
My experience with thrift shops is that if I pass on an item, then have second thoughts, and rush back to get it before anyone else does -- it's usually gone.
