Hi Ian, Nicely presented Optimus No.5. I reckon it probably pre-dates 1962 and the formation of the PTC, since most components apart form the "Primus" spirit cup appear to be marked Optimus, Sweden, with the additional Upplands Vasby mark on the base of the tank. I wonder if the spirit-cup was a later addition? Best Regards, Kerophile.
Hi Yonadav My school reports always said I could do better ! Still trying. Hi Kerophile Spirit cup did throw me a bit. Thats why I included it in the pictures. I thought maybe, made after Optimus had taken Primus over, as the riser tube and spirit cup and burner, had little use. I then had a look at the 1957-58 catalogue, and it is probably from that period. The burner itself is not marked Optimus underneath. As this particular stove is not in the SRG, I thought it was well worth adding. Regards to you both
Ive just picked up one very similar from a second hand shop uppl vasby stamp on base optimus burner and a primus burner cap which try as i might i cant remove must have been hammered on, only lightly used wont take a lot to get going as the pump works fine
@Garth . Try preheating the burner to operating temperature like you would if you were to start it. Then with a rag, quickly remove the burner cap before the cap and burner begin to cool down. Hope that works. John
