Hello all I have been watching and learning on the site for awhile. Lots of great info here(duh!). I have been using different stoves over the past bunch of years....yes one could use the word decades...and would very much like to keep a few of the older ones running as long as possible. I work in an outdoor store-local and small but quality equipment-and am starting to see some folks bringing in older stoves that the younger folks haven’t seen. Thought this site could be a great reference for me to maybe help them out. Thanks for being here! Ray
Welcome indeed! Most of the older stoves are quite maintainable and repairable, and you will be performing a real service. ....Arch
Welcome... for Me it is very interesting - "what, when, where" - was in real use... Your work - is a chance give Us a small report.
Welcome-I worked in an outdoor store in the early 90's after the company I worked for went bankrupt. It was fun, being in the National Guard I worked in the camping department. I saw so many stoves at that time and wish I would have bought them.
Howdy, @Rayj ! I'll add my own welcome to CCS!!! It's a great place to be, if you love older stoves, and heck, we share the new ones, now and then, too!! Many moons ago, I used to fettle stoves for a store that was very probably the same as the on in which you work. It wasn't a money-maker, but it was great fun. Most of the problems were gasket related, or just re-doing a proper setup of the stove, i.e. dealing with a cleaning needle that was set too high. Thanks for sending any newbies our way, and we promise to take good care of them, and help then, and you, learn to maintain the older stoves, and how best to keep using them in the field!! Take care, and God Bless! Every Good Wish, Doc
Welcome Ray. Your outdoor store sounds intriguing. Have never been to Montana but it sure looks good when seen on the widescreen. I can understand why there is a ski resort called Big Sky.
Oh, from Montana. Beautiful area. We were just through Bozeman, Eureka, Virginia City, and more in June.
I'm new ... I have a few old stoves ... but I'd like to get a few serviced one is an Optimus and another an MSR ... if I can find someone maybe I'll get more serviced ... any leads for service in NA?
