Hi Sorry for the delay been away. This was the source RARE Marvelous Custom Silent BURNER For Sweden Stove Primus OPTIMUS 8R | eBay It’s frustrating it doesn’t fit with the lid closed but the pictures actually don’t show the lid closed in the listings I be fair. Very easy to install and remove. Only worry will be slowly wearing the threads over time. I have a b d silent cap also so will try to compare at some point Cheers
@The Warrior Never seen fire pistons before - Had to look them up --> Amazing little piece of igniter! (Great gear you have there!) @Lampenstove I have a small BD Silence cap which I use on my 8R, Primus 71 and 99 when needed - It fits nice and low - so no problems when closing the lids...
@Harder D. Soerensen Thank you sir. The fire pistons are awesome. I'm very outdoorsy. Used to go hiking and camping quite a bit. I've had a cabin for the last 6 years, so pretty much we just go there now. Anywhos, my research on most things outdoors led me to them some years back. It's said that Ruldolf Diesel, inventor of the diesel engine got the idea from a fire piston. Not sure if that's true or not, but I've come across that info on more than one occasion. Here's a demonstration with a clear tube so you can see the tinder igniting:
@CW Great photo! Although I like your existing avatar, IMHO I think that photo would make a better one!
I'm going to stick my neck out here, but I can't see the fibreglass rope around the riser. Did you forget to fit it @CW.
I was testing it, it was losing pressure. Hmmm why wont the priming fire burn out? Turns out is was leaking from the riser threads.
No not almost a bomb! as long as there is positive pressure in the stove and venting all is well. Just shut the stove off blow out the small flame and fix.
