When trying to prick me 96, yesterday, it would go in, had to get me magnifying glass out, found out it was to big, then tried it on a No5 and a few others it worked, so got all me prickers, only got 8, tried them all, found one thats fits, now, how many different size prickers are there, the one i got have no sizes on them, the top one is the biggest one, as I thought, one size fits all
Hi the No.96 has a jet with a 0.23mm diameter hole. The pricker wire is slightly smaller in diameter, giving a sliding fit. The No.1 and No.5 type stoves have a jet with a 0.32mm diameter hole. The pricker again should be a sliding fit, with a wire diameter of around 0.30mm diameter. There are a huge variety of different stoves out there. There are many sizes but the most common 0.32mm works for most stoves and blowlamps while some small burners have a jet less than 0.3mm and usually can take the"96 pricker" like Primus 4606 etc.
There are two. Too big and too small. As above, standard jet sizes are either 0.32 for the 'majority' of screw in nipples for kero or 0.23 for 'lipstick' butners. Brass being a relatively soft metal, can easily get abraded with a wire pricker and enlarged over the years. Nothing wrong with using a smaller wire in 0.32 nipple if you're clearing a temporary floater in the jet.
