I have an Optimus 55/155 marine stove. The o-ring is at the bottom of the pump tube--it slipped off the pump. I can see it down at the bottom of the tube. Any suggestions on tricks or retrieve it? I am a little afraid of unscrewing the tube. I cannot get a good grip on it and it appears to be thin metal. I don't want to break o crush the pump tube. Thanks for your help.
A long screwdriver or similar with some heavy grease on it - to “glue” the O-ring to the screwdriver?
I've always kept a few old broken bicycle spokes that come in handy for homemade tools for jobs like this.
I got the o-ring. Thanks! I used a coat hanger w/a slightly bent end. I wish I had known to grease the o-ring (Ahh...the fun of fettling). I think a lack of grease is what started all the trouble. I have been using my stove for six years w/out knowing to add any silicone grease to the o-ring.
