Got one of theese obselete gassies in a trade. A refilling agapter later, and it burns wery hot! 1 liter of water boiling in 5 min 25 secs. This will be split into two posts due to the many pics!
That's a very nice looking stove, Henrik. I rather like the burner and flame pattern. Interesting that they call it a Clansman which is no doubt a perfectly good name in England but a poor choice for a stove's name in the US. HJ
Could've been worse - at least it wasn't spelled Klansman! I've a Veritas Highlander, of which I'll post images when I get a bit of free time. It seems there was a Scottish theme going on at Falks at the time...
Hi, I'm in England UK. My school was not so far from Garrat Lane, Wandsworth, SW16 where these were made. But that was in the 70,s. I have one of these stoves and there are still plenty about in the UK. I would love to know where I can get the refil adaptor for the canister. Can't find that anywhere. But it is heard of here in the UK. Thanks
Welcome.to CCS @Steve Big Steve. Refill adapters are readily available. There are a variety from Amazon/evilBay/alidoodah. The canister is a standard Lindal/EN417 so shiukd be easily sorted. The site search facikity is v good, look for a few relevant terms and there's quute a bit already discussed on what you can buy for less than a fiver.
No, it isn’t though Simon. It’s pierced by that spike in one of the photos, but it’s not Camping Gas pierceable compatible and was unique to that stove and other Falks butane stoves in the ‘Scots’ series Clansman/Highlander/Chieftain. A nitrile rubber cap provided the seal and the originals of those are long gone. If a source of new/old stock were found they’d surely have age-hardened and wouldn’t seal.
Apologies @Steve Big Steve and thanks for the correctiin @presscall. It does help viewing all the images on a screen larger than 4". It would have also helped if I'd used a browser that actuall rendered ALL the images. Not owning an old Veritas I don't have the first hand knowledge sadly and jumped to the totally.wrong conclusion. It appears that the seal Steve has is still useable so the Camping Gaz refill rig could possibly work.
