Aluminum case version. Given a heads up to it when found on a French buy/sell site by Harder Soerensen. Harder YOU DA MAN! Thank you Sir! I was after an 8 but never expected to land one of these. Not pristine by any stretch of the imagination but a pretty solid survivor and I'm very happy with it. PO fix to the little clasp that held the tools but all in all not too bad, I think? Everything looked good and fired right up. Nice green light show before the prime burnt down then away it went. My new favorite! Alex
Nice catch. I wonder if there was a French trade barrier in place that made stoves of this type with steel cases prohibitively expensive. It seems the 8's with aluminium case mostly emerge in France.
I've one of this alu case Optimus 8, bought in France! The weight of the stove is arround 560gr. But mine hasn't this nice windsheld...
@Tony Press Here it is Tony. Of course I have no idea if this was original to the stove or not? Regardless, very well made and fits like a glove. Large slots fit the space around the hinges and the small side slots fit where the pot stands are. A 21/64" drill fits the holes. If homemade someone did a nice job. Alex
Anyone ever use a 99 windscreen with an 8R? I imagine it would fit in the box for travel. I’ve been using a 5 inch folder from flea bay, as shown in my avatar. Basil
Hi @bbsteinle . Make up a windshield and try it: Optimus 99 Windshield Tell us how you get on. Best Regards, Kerophile.
