Army navy again. Its been there at least 5 years. 8 bucks. It fired up after fettling the folded over rubber pump packing for a while . Its not leaking anywhere. Its missing the pot support. But it has the boat wood case its built into. And a rattan looking front. And latches to hold it on the boat. Makes it about the size of a Coleman suitcase. I'm thinking of using it around the house here. I doubt its worth anything. But I could cook with alcohol I guess . Anyone think parts are available like the rubber pump packing. I can make a pot support in stainless I guess. Thanks for looking
Hey, Diesel, Congrats for getting a wonderful stove, much under-rated, for a steal of a price! I love the Homestrand Marine stoves, and yours is like them. I think I have 5 or 6 of them, and think very highly of them. It may well be possible to get parts, too. Google Kenyon Marine, last address I have for them is New Whitfield Street, Guilford, CT 06437 Phone: 203-453-4374. Failing that, try any Marine supply houses, and they may be able to help you. As far as I know, up to four different burners were used in these stoves, so you will have to figure out which ones you have. How about some photos, some of them up close, and to the side of the burners? Once I see what you have, I can help you figure out which burners you have. That's a nice one. The burners are doing what they should. I happen to have one, only the cabinet is less fancy. The problem I have with mine s that the burners do not put out what they should. I suspect that the sintered filter at the bottom of the burner is somewhat clogged. In my stupor of receiving one, I did not clean the fuel tank, before I lit the burners. The burners were burned strong, until the impurities got sucked into the fuel line. I would really hate to take everything apart, before I know for sure how to undo the clogging. Does anyone know how to unclogg the sintered filter that is embedded into the burner? Thanks in advance!
Diesel do not buy pot supports or make one, i have two of these. They are both used and have some enamal issues but they are mostly whole. Say an 8 out of 10. Please send me your shipping address and it's yours for the asking. lance
Hey, Diesel, I have a stove very much like yours, but without the actual box. It's just the top. Very nice! Judging from your photos, I'd leave the burners exactly as they are, and just use it as you found it. Seems to be burning quite well, and in little need of tuning, or adjustment!! Most of them need something, but your's seems OK, just as it is. Also, from your photos, and without you taking the outer and inner caps off and showing how the inside bottom of the burner looks, I'm still not sure which burner you have. No matter, though, as yours is burning nicely. If you want the info, please PM me your email address and I'll send some photos and attachments that will show how to adjust the two main types of such burners. Hey, Shawn, Detailed, up close photos, can help us know which burners your stove has. The model number doesn't help, unfortunately, because it seems there was a bit of switching round, regarding burners, even within the same Model. So, how about posting some good photos, especially of the burners, and we'll give it a good shot at trying to figure out which ones you have. Hey, Shawn, I will look forward to seeing your photos. Unfortunately, if the burner caps cannot be removed, it will be almost impossible to tell, exactly, which style burner you have. Yes, a general statement can be made about it. But, if you want to tune the air/fuel mixture, we will need to see the inside of the burners, without either of the caps in place. Doc, Thanks for all the help so far. I removed the one non working burner from the stove. The fuel line is clear up to the burner so the clog is somewhere in the burner itself. I took the jet, cleaning rod and spindle out and the burner is still clogged. I tried lots of carb cleaner into the burner, 150psi of air from a compressor and so on and have had no luck so far. It appears the burner should unscrew at the priming cup but I have been unable to get that apart. I think this burner has barely been used if used at all. My guess it clogged very early on and the earlier owner just used the other burner for all their cooking. Thanks, Shawn
Evening, Shawn, Glad things are working out well for you, and I know you will get that errant burner back in fine fettle soon. I'm happy to have been able to help, as I love these stoves, myself! Your problem may be the same as B2M's, and it may lie in the sintered brass fuel filter. Once clogged, these guys are sometimes hard to get back to normal. But, it can be done. I remove mine, and then soak them in citric acid solution for 30 minutes. Rinse, and while doing so, scrub with a very stiff toothbrush, or a brass gun-cleaning brush, under running water. Back into the citic acid for another 30 minutes, followed by more scrubbing and rinsing. Keep this up as long as needs be for the outside of the sintered brass filter to be completely clean, with no black, or gunk to be seen. It might take quite a few times, but I think it will eventually work for you, as it has for me. I have a very MSR X-GK which had a similarly made surge filter under the jet. It took the better part of an afternoon, but when I was finished cleaning this sintered brass filter, the stove worked as good as brand new! Well worth the effort. Check your burner out and see if you, too, have one of those filters, like B2M, and me. Give it the proper care, and I think you may have solved your problem. Diesel i have looked for the stove tops i had and have been unable to find them. Either i have put them someplace safe or SWMBO has outed them to the bin. sorry mate but i'll keep looking. lance
Doc, Thanks, sounds like that may be the problem. The trick I have right now is simply finding the fuel filter. I don't see it and haven't been able to get the halves apart to see if it is in there. Thanks, Shawn
I bought two rebuild kits from ESS-Kay Yards in Brewton NY. I should have bought them from Kenyon. I paid 33, Kenyon charges 25. ESS charged me $9.60 for shipping. They sent it Priority Post and it cost them $4.60. I felt ripped off. They used the free USPS envelope and some recycled shipping materials. Emailed my being upset to them and have heard nothing yet.
