Whatever fuel bottle you choose (I would second the suggestion of a purpose designed, brand name bottle) you won't need a large one. The Svea 123 is a very efficient stove and cooking for two on a one to two trip will take relatively little fuel. Paul
For years I've carried white gas in the ubiquitous clear 500ml disposable water bottles. They are tough, light, pour cleanly, and can be crumpled up when empty. I've never noticed any degradation of the poly material.
Thanks for all the bottle ideas. I am a ukulele player and got my first one when I was 9 years old for Christmas back in 1961 or so. The ukulele habit is similar to the camp stove obsession. There is always another stove or accessory to buy. I just located the guts of a Printiss Wabers stove on Craigslist.
My family loves their deliveries. They just think most of mine are boring. Our dog is in love with the mailman. He also gives treats. Our former dog hated anyone in a uniform, considered them all home invaders.
Then another package arrived with my name on it. What a disappointment. I was expecting more stuff for the SVEA. My wife or a daughter had ordered something but used my name.
I used a Svea in the 80s when I rode cross-country. I used a Sigg carried in a Blackburn bottle cage mounted on the underside of my down tube just above the bottom bracket. Very hot days on the open road can generate more heat than you might realize. My Sigg bulged out due to the heat produced pressure. Still have that bottle. My Svea is hands down my favorite stove and is among the best things ever designed. The Rottefella Super Telemark binding, Opinel 9, and Dia-Compe 610 center-pull brakes are also on that list. High praise. That said, if I were to head out bike touring again in the US, I would carry a Trangia, since denatured alcohol can be found at nearly any hardware store or *Mart and most gas stations have HEET. Resupplying Coleman fuel has always been a problem for me for bike touring. Takes some work to find a store that carries it and it's generally only available in gallons. Obviously, if you don't anticipate the need to resupply then this concern doesn't apply. Have fun and ride safe.
