I bought this stove as seen in the photos below. The seller had given it a polishing. I did work on the rust on the cast iron trivet, and fitted new seals and washers (from the Fettlebox). The burner that came with the stove was unmarked except for a "B" on the hex. The nipple thread in the burner had been cross-threaded... ..so I exchanged the burner with this one. This is the cast iron trivet that came with the stove. I have only one other cast iron trivet with this exact pattern, but it is stamped "Made in Sweden" underneath, whereas this one has no markings underneath (that can be seen, anyway). Lighting it up: It passed the "no soot" test and the tea test! Cheers Tony
Nice Tony, congrats. Cool old stove. Always looks awesome when there's an old pot sitting atop an old stove.
Hi Tony, Nice stove. May I suggest that with the combination of filler cap legends, pump tube cap markings, and pump rod assembly in addition to the major pre-1911 features, we could possibly pin this one down even more precisely to the few years c.1908-1910? And your 'new' burner fits nicely there too. Ian
@igh371 I was hoping you’d pop in on this thread. My suspicion about it’s age was last half of the 1900s, so thank you for that date range. I rummaged around my spares to find the oldest spare No.1 Primus burner I had. Cheers Tony
Good morning/evening @Tony Press nice early stove and trivet! I nave a No4 with the same shaped spirit bowl , I wondered if you could measure the diameter of yours as mine looks to big for a No4? No cracks in the trivet? Thanks Nick
Nick I’ll measure it in the morning. It’s much smaller than a standard later Primus No. 1 spirit cup. There’s one crack in the trivet. This stove will become a shelf queen, so I didn’t silbraze the crack. I’ve got a couple of others that I will silbraze, though. Cheers Tony
Tony, you once again worked your magic on this one! Good to see it up and running and doing what it loves.
@Tony Press , Tony, Excellent Old Timer you've scored, Mate!! I love the shape of those early spirit cups, and the overall shape of stoves in this age group! It's nice to see yours up and running, again, and thanks for sharing it here with us!! Well done!! Take care, and God Bless! Every Good Wish, Doc
