I'm new to this hobby, so still learning. Does anyone know anything about an Optimus stove that has the pressure control knob protruding from the side of the tank? It is in a different location than the fuel fill port. It looks pretty old as well. If the vent control were placed at 12 o'clock, the pump would be on the left at 10 o'clock and the fuel filler port is on the right at 2 o'clock.

Hi,have a look at this early (1911) Primus No.100. The Optimus equivalent would be very similar and have an air release valve separate from the filler cap and positioned on the top of the fuel tank.

    Primus No.100 from 1911.

This arrangement was common on stoves up until the 1920s when the cheaper option of co-locating the filler and air release functions was adopted. It is likely a cheaper option for manufacture.

    Trust this helps.
    Best Regards,
    Kerophile.

Wow..Thanks for the reply. The one I am looking at is in better condition than the one you referred to as far as patina. Everything else looks reasonable. So, what would a person expect to pay for something like that?
