And you found this abandoned on a glacier on Saint George Island?

O.K. that's it. I'm going to South Georgia Island and look for an abandoned Comet 6. That's my best chance of ever acquiring one!

    Hi friends

thank you for the kind of comments.

    Ben
I was looking for a COMET NO6 or OPTIMUS NO9 for years.
I thought I never going to own one of those two stove but finally find one of the two.

This little one will be one of my winter
    Project.

As I recall, the Comet was evacuated from South Georgia when the "beach camp" party was rescued. If you're going to South Georgia, though, I believe the larger Primus they abandoned on the final day of the crossing is still there. (It's been awhile since I looked into this, so I may be mistaken.)

That's a gorgeous stove. I particularly love the plate type pump handle.

The last Comet 6 to come up on eBay sold on May 12, 2019 for $1,525. My $1,500 bid was second place. It still hurts.

The whole trip would probably be cheaper than getting one off EBay. Plus your chances of finding one there are greater than winning a bid. Let's go.

It’s a beautiful stove, I am glad that I have one as well albeit with a less interesting story of acquisition.
