Hi, just a question, I have an incomplete Svea 5 , mind you, the text on the tank does not say No 5. Now I can buy an Svea 5, like mine not No 5 on the tank but this one has a regulated burner with a black Max Sievert knob. I wonder, what is the difference between Svea 5 and Svea No 5? Regards, Ton.
I think the age is the difference - the regulated burner is a common later update on many swedish No1/5 stoves virtually making them like a Primus 15 or Optimus 5R, usually that burner is another trade mark than the stove.
I suppose you are right Lennart. somewhere in time the "No" disappeared. While another brand, Radius started adding "Ltd" to their products during the years.
A recent find - SVEA 5 - very pleased with this one. Teased out the pump cup with neatsfoot oil, put in a new filler cap seal, flushed the fount, and presto ! Away she goes. Easier, quicker warm up than a Companion, I reckon. Still cleaning it. It has had much use, over two generations of the family, hence the jet is so well worn that it gobbles up kero like a jet plane. With too much pressure, the tiny blue pinpoints of flame actually move well away from their little holes in the outer burner cap. The brass cap is made of thicker material than any other cap I've seen. I like the little tube which helps the start up, clips to the generator. Anyone know where I can find a new jet, please ? Other jets I've purchased have a different thread. Thank you.
From the way it's burning, the jet seems to be just fine. If it was worn you'd have a yellow. smoky flame. If it's a standard Svea burner, the jet thread should be the same as the other Swedish (and most other) makes. Nice looking stove, Peter
