I want to present my minimalist set with Svea 123r, which I usually hold in a car. Svea 123r without its own mug, but with titanium Snow Peak mug (800ml) and small Foldacup. A retracted cup sits over burner of Svea and then go in Snow Peak mug. A lid packs under mug in it mesh bag. A 800 ml mug is from SNOW PEAK Titanium Mini Solo Combo, but unfortunately, it come to me without second small titanium mug. .
Yes, it's looks like absolutely classic, but I've seen that many people carry mug separately. This set not only give compact packing but also minimize rattle. So I decided to share my solution.
I've always favoured carrying a 2nd cup in a setup like that, so you can have a hot drink while your food cooks.
I tried this on my 123. Wouldn't quite work, as the cup handle and pricker blade got in the way. I appreciate that a 123R has a self-inflicted pricker and you're deleting the stock factory cup for the higher capacity Titanium model.
Hi, New Svea 123 and Toaks 550 ml pot (inner diameter 95 mm) pack really nicely. Even the lid fits inside the Toaks bag.
Excellent idea! Now I have a goal to set for once I get my SVEA 123 running (AND my 111B & PAK COOK 235...) Only my 8R runs so far, which for me is an accomplishment (I've only been into CCS for about 6 months). I must add that you've done a GREAT job on polishing the SVEA 123 - I have been developing a nice friendship W/ BRASSO and other restoration materials.
Don't use Brasso or Duraglit on brass gas pressure appliances. The ammonia in the formula makes the brass structure brittle, and at extreme pressure it could fail. Beware a 50 year old stove that shines like it was new yesterday. Better to get used to a good dull patina. Ketchup or lemon-lime juice will clean up exterior brass without ammonia. Also they're non-toxic.
@SveaSizzler Any idea what would neutralize the effect of the ammonia now that it's already been applied? Maybe another polish but with an automotive product to remove it?
Great set-up You may find you need to carry a cloth to wipe the soot off the mug (globetrotter experience...), but thats always a handy addition anyway as it can be used as an anti-rattle device! Alec.
