Cruising through a junk shop in Eastern Oregon my eye spies this box... heart be still... and it has something in it! I had a fleeting vision of an unfired stove awaiting me. Stove yes, but unfired... maybe once or twice. Last pic is the Primus 8R with my user Optimus 8R... brother from another mother.
WOW!! thats as good as new in my books. I hope that you got a discount of the $11.75 because it had been lit.
Or at least a $1.18 rebate for being a Coop member. I paid $8.95 for a new Svea 123 at The Kelty Store in Glendale Calif. in 1970. It didn't have a box, so it might have been a floor demo. They also threw in a gallon of Coleman gas free, [worth a whole Dollar] since I'd bought a Kelty Pack, down sleeping bag, Cavog fuel tin, tent and other impedimentia.
Congrats ! Complete in the box with paper, gotta love it! 1969 per 6 digit date code on the box btw. Sweeeet !
The REI price tag has 4-70 above the price. So I guess they store them in oak casks in Sweden for 3 months to age and mellow, before shipping them to Seattle. Actually brothers from the same mother, Optimus, since they bought out the Primus name in the late '60s.
