This item caught my eye Genuine British Army - number 1 burner cooker. 1944. petrol cooker Hydra stove | eBay Have to say do like the Hydra plate on it. The interesting thing for me is the sides are stencilled and there is a NSN number which i find strange. Any thoughts?
love lighting these things, great fun, but hated digging the long tunnel to put it in, brings back memories of bunt eye brows and no hair
Hi @Surveyor Yes it is an NSN: 7310-99-125-1847 The designation 7310 indicates it is food cookery, bakery and serving equipment. The No.99 records that it was first listed by the United Kingdom whilst the final 7 digits are inventory numbers. Here are the equivalent markings for a Military No. 12 Stove, with comments: 1997 British Army No.12 The No.1 must have been in Storage, and registered later ( post 1974? ) with the NATO No. if it was made in 1944. NATO Stock Number Best Regards, Kerophile.
Kerophile Thanks, yes used to NSN, my puzzle was the NSN on it, and storage does make sense now you mention it
Late to the party as usual but yes, thats the NSN that was given to it in later years. They dropped the old VAOS system and adopted the NSNs . It was J2 (Cooking Equipment) -JB10820. Alec.
