Some questions concerning a Radius No. 20 and multi-fuel stoves

Hello there,

First of: I am very new to this forum and hope that this thread is in the right place here...

I recently got myself a Radius No 20, which is in pretty good condition, as far as I can tell. My main goal here is to not only safe an old stove from being a dust-collector on some shelf, I´d also like to use it as a stove for travelling. I imagine it might be somewhat hard to get paraffin in some countries and thus would rather like to have a stove capable of burning gasoline. Since I do have very little experience with these glorious classics, some questions came up:

1. As far as I know, the No 20 is a paraffin stove, unsuited for use with gasoline, right?

2. Is it possible to run the No 20 with a mix of gasoline and paraffin?

3. What are your experiences with getting the right fuel in other countries? (eastern europe, asia, turkey, etc.)

4. What (old) gasoline-capable stoves would you recommend?

2) Light on the gas if at all.
3) No experience.
4) Old Coleman, not sure of model that has a petrol genny.

Just to be very clear, the. Radius No. 20 is a kerosene (paraffin) stove and is not safe to run on gasoline.

Thanks for the answers so far In the short test with gasoline I ran yesterday it sure felt pretty shifty...

 

The two danger points are the non-return valve (NRV) at the bottom of the pump tube, where, if it fails will release gasoline into the pump tube; and the other is the pressure release screw at the filler cap which if used while the stove is lit will release gasoline vapour right near the flame.

This was exactly what i feared might happen... I really like the No 20, but it seems just to impractical to use it on longer travels...
Do you know of relatively old gasoline-capable stoves that you would recommend?

There are several of these small hiking stoves which run on Gasoline (preferably not what you use in cars).
Alkylate Benzin/White Spirit is the best.
Have a look at common models like:
Primus 71
Optimus 80
Radius 42
Coleman 502
Juwel 34
Svea 123/123R
Optimus 8/8R
Coleman/Aladdin MIL stove M1942MOD.
Newer stoves like:
Optimus 99
Optimus 199 (tri-fuel) Can run on Kerosene/petroleum - Benzine and Alcohol (with a change of jet and an Air - restrictor tube)
Russian PT-1

Don't forget the German Enders model 9060, 9061 or 9063 Baby Bensin. All excellent white gas stoves.

Anyone that has worked on an Enders might be hesitant to recommend it....
