As I was about to go camping up in Killarney Provincial Park for a week, I was scanning the web for camp stoves, as one does. I am a long time canoe camper, and always brought a Coleman dual burner white gas stove along, not really minding the weight because I thought it to be my only option, really. It wasn’t until I stumbled upon this forum where I realized that a single burner would be absolutely perfect for what I do. I still cannot believe I hadn’t come to that conclusion years ago… I’m a little disappointed in myself to be honest. Anyhow I picked up a 502, and before it even arrived I was completely hooked on single burner camp stoves. So seeing a couple of nice auctions on the good ole eBay, I picked up a Phoebus and a Coleman 530, and then Svea (with a beautiful Sigg fuel bottle) from Etsy. Now that everything has arrived I have a little stove family just waiting for their turn to be taken out on a trip! So long story short, that’s all for getting me neck deep into another hobby!
@swcw117 Welcome to CCS. That is a good start but I don't see any kero burners Also, you'll need the rest of the kit for the Trangia. Windscreen, pots, and kettle. Maybe even get complete Trangia 27 and 25 kits. Oh, you'll want to get a spare 502, 530 and 123 in the rare event you'll need parts in the future. Happy new hobby beginnings. Cheers Ray

Thanks for the welcome! I’ll get into kero eventually, white gas and I get along just so well right now! I use the trangia spirit burner with a firebox nano twig stove at the moment, but I would really like to get a full trangia cook set together in time! I’m also sure some spares are in my near future, oh my poor wallet
Hey Lance, I haven’t had the Phoebus going yet but the 502 has been put through it’s paces the past week and she’s just a gem. I saw a mod on here for the Phoebus regarding adding a spirit dish so the paint isn’t ruined, so I’ll have to do that first before firing her up!
Howdy, @swcw117 , Welcome to our Merry Band of Stove Pyros!! Glad to have you here with us! Your collection is already covering a lot of bases, and that is great. But, it's pretty easy for the "wants" in the stove World to take over your life! It surely did get ME, back when I found my first backpacking stoves! I used to haunt every swap meet, flea market, antique store, and garage sale, and in the doing, procured upwards to 600, or more, of the little dears!! In truth, that is just WAAAY too many stoves! There is hardly a place in our home, where you won't see something stove oriented, and I'm in the midst of making some hard decisions on what to keep, and what to begin selling off to others "in stove need"!! The Stove Pox, is incurable, and it will, in the end, cost you a ton of money, and take over your home!! Yes, it's fun, but it's also frustrating, when you can't find what you are seeking, because of all the other boxes, bins, and storage containers, all filled with stoves!! So, yes, cover the bases, then just get out and use the wonderful stoves you have. Don't end up like me, with more stoves than common sense, and not near enough time to use and enjoy them, much less having a good place to fettle and work on those in need!!! Again, glad to have you with us, and I look forward to seeing you and your stoves in action. We LOVE photos, and trip reports around here, so don't hold back, if you feel like sharing!! I think you're neck deep in an addiction. Pretty soon every available nook and cranny will be filled with stoves that you forgot you had and keep meaning to get to. Doc isn't the only one, I'm talking from experience as well. Ben
Love to take my stoves on trips in the wilds, but I get the same good feeling cooking with them in the backyard. I try to use one every week that way I can justify having a couple too many. Usually use them in pairs out camping. You can go smaller by adding a 400, 440 series stove or a Swedish mess kit for your trangia or 99. Use common sense, easy to say! Just got a Enders and I think I need a baby to go with it! Daryl sunny HOT SoCal

Thanks for your welcome Doc, it is greatly appreciated! I hope to be posting more, asking more questions, and getting some more advice as time goes on and my collection grows. I've got a MSR XGK, or GK coming in the mail here, and I just picked up an older whisperlite. Also, Daryl, that mean looks just sublime - hopefully I can get my meals to look half that good on my stoves!
