Optimus International 111T or Hiker?

I’ve always thought it interesting that the small 8R, more likely to be carried in a backpack, was designated “Hunter”, while the large 111, which I picture thrown in a pick-up with hunting gear, was the “Hiker.”

Hunters are solo much more often than a hiker.

 

An argument could be made either way but, like Basil, I always felt that the 8R would be a better "Hiker" and the 111, being more of a base-camp or cabin stove, a better "Hunter". As a result, I often have to think a second to make sure I have not confused the names since in my mind it is backwards.

I understand that naming stoves may make marketing sense, but I seem to prefer "catchy" numbers (if that even exists) for some reason.

 

Surely you agree that Eleventyone is a very catchy number, so they do exist indeed.

Now I am curious how many ways 111 might be pronounced in Swedish.

Both "hundra elva" and "en elva" have a good ring to my ear but are probably not used. "Ett hundra elva"?

I would say that "hundra-elva" is what we typically use, at least I do.

I've on rare occasions also heard people say "trippel-ett" (triple-one)
