Mine turned up last week, and I collected from the post office during the weekend. Pristine condition with tags. Marked Leyse 1966. I'm very happy with it, though I have yet to use it. Thanks again for the tip, Ian!
No problem, just thought that the price for a new set could not be beaten. Hopefully the postage from the U.K. didn't make the deal too expensive. All the best,Ian
Luton Army Surplus still have stock - mine arrived today (just too late for a practical trial during Storm Arwen). Also stamped 'Leyse 66".
Here is an all aluminum set with coleman M1950. It's a tight fit, maybe less noise? The untreated fry pan sometime take longer to clean then the cook time. Simmer plate or the SS version would help. Daryl sunny SoCal
These aren't really rare in surplus stock. Most are still marked as "Cook-set, Mountain" though even the original Army instructions can't decide if the "cookset" should be hyphenated or not. I have an Australian Army set (Broad Arrow marking, no manufacturer or date). A Whisperlite, Primus 350ml fuel canister, windshields, modern MSR pump and priming/starting kit all fit in. I believe it was issued for/with an M1950 stove, which I do not have. All the Aussie ones I have seen have had the frypans in used condition. Many US copies the frypan has only been used for a lid. I suspect (but don't know for sure) that a BRS12A would fit. A Trangia 27 will fit in the larger pot, which will fit the pan stand position. Check the usual sources, there are plenty around.
