That's good. I'll post a flame shot when I get the rebuild kit and upgrade the wick and gaskets assuming, of course, that my fettling results in a working stove!
I would not say good, necessarily, I have never bought from him. I get gasket kits here, from Fettlebox.
I received my order from spinnakerspar. The fuel cap gasket and NRV pip are an excellent fit and are made of viton. The vendor even threw in a few extras at no additional charge because he was 2 days later shipping than he originally anticipated. Next I'll install the replacement wick. So far, I'm very pleased both with the vendor and the product quality.
You guys have jogged my memory on something I wanted to ask. I found a military surplus a while back that sold a box of I think Russian rifle cleaning swabs that looked a lot like the wicks posted. I wondered if anyone would knew if they would work. Now I'm going to have to check my history to see if I can refind it.

I think so Ken ,that's why I was wondering if they would work. I intended to buy some for cleaning my guns but figured I'd wait till after I moved then see if they worked or not.

By the time you fold these in half and wrap the two halves around the wire insert, it does not appear there is enough "tail" left to insert very far into the fuel tank.
I believe 6" is the norm. On my old stoves, there is a copper? wire with a loop at one end that the doubled over wick is threaded thru, then the wick is stuck up into the vaporizer or fuel tube. Not usually a easy task. Duane
Here are some flame shots of my rehabbed 8R: I installed a Bernie Dawg Mini-Dawg silent cap. Note that the last pic shows, not a thermometer but a decibel meter leaning against the lid, i.e., about 8 inches from the burner. On the human voice decibel spectrum, normal speaking is around 63dB. Whispering is around 45dB. So, as you can see, with the Mini-Dawg installed, the 8R is "whisper quiet." So cool, for something so hot....
Yeah, it seems you have to adjust your lighting process a bit with them. And it takes a few minutes to get to full burn conditions. But they're great. The Mini-Dawg is also the size for your 99. If you order direct from Bernie Dawg's web site it's a bit cheaper than ordering it through his contract manufacturer (I think that's what it is) Shapeways in New York. Shapeways still makes it. It's 3-D printed, which is both cool and amazing! But the direct order price from Bernie Dawg is cheaper.
