Looking for more information on this stove had this for a while. Just finished cleaning and repainting it. Would anyone have a date of birth so to speak? Looks similar to AGM cast iron burner setup. Also did not see a similar one in the gallery. This also appears to have a cast iron control nut on second burner not a stamp steel one as shown.
@Kool Camp Stoves , Sweeet, congrats! ..and ya got er goin to boot! re Looking for more information I "suggest" maybe start with comparing it to Albert Lea Foundry stoves, in this case rebadged for Monkey Wards... the 1st and only one i've heard of myself.
I does look very much like an AGM Model 3 I'm working on at the moment. That said here's a thread exploring the history of ALF and AGM. AGM of Albert Lea and Albert Lea Foundry perhaps more than you want to know.
Very nice, and interesting! I have about half a dozen old AGM’s, but no Montgomery Ward version… I do enjoy those I have though…
My Kampkook No.3 has the 'happy face burners' & differant legs, but was made in Albert Lee, Minn. by AGM compact 14x8x4 inch case.
My sincere apologies for a third post, new to the forum. Here are pics of the stove I recently picked up and currently working on. Also a pic of the sticker design that I am working on. If I am successful with the sticker I will get a hold of you and send one your way.
This was from the bay a few months ago. I was more interested in the actual pump and siphon at the time, for a different stove. Now I just like it. If JCColeman-3 can make a label please let me know. Its nice to see another one also. I did find a pic of another one on Picclick but no info with it.There are a least 3 for sure. Also after searching as in post #4 found no real info as to what or why this is available. More confused then before.
@JCColeman-3 @Kool Camp Stoves re your "More confused than before." This is among the most confusing topics on the site. Above, what comes thru is these look like AGM 3s. chb has linked a lengthy discussion. My intension: less confusion. I will double down on my: "...start with comparing it to *Albert Lea Foundry stoves, in this case rebadged for Monkey Wards..." [*which is A L F, and no connection to A G M ] I did the leg work, i just viewed all AGM suitcase burner asms. in the gallery, none match your burners. A check of all the Albert Lea Foundry stoves, finds all match your burners. I can not yet state with certainty it's made by ALF (Albert Lea Foundry) but I'd say it definitely leans that way vs AGM. I agree with everyone, looks a lot like AGM 3.... ALF stoves do resemble AGMs.. which has contributed to much confusion over decades. I lean towards ALF made, rebadged for/by monkey wards. Other scenario is "someone" obtained ALF burner asms.. i dunno who but I'd give zero chance to AGM-made item using an ALF burner asm. Re that lengthy 4 pages of discussion chb linked, the end result: "...establishes the ALF / AGM connection did not occur as it had been previously described, done." All the suggestions connecting the 2 separate companies / products (aside from being in same town) were debunked or unfounded. If yours is related to ALF, the burner certainly looks to be, that makes these latest examples more rare than AGM and makes this is a new revelation re the rare ALF camp stoves [thank you], again IF, if they are ALF made/sourced. [process of elimination what else could they possibly be? if not ALF, ya got me. not AGM imo]
This case is bigger then my AGM #1. This stove is 16 7/8" long 10 1/2" deep and 4 3/4 " Tall. Very close in length and depth just taller. Also wrap around legs for top cover compared to curved legs with latch on top cover. After searching info provided by chb its seems that Montgomery Wards used the "Lakeside" as brand no different Sears did with Craftsman and or Kenmore names.
