Primus 8R question

I purchased this 8R and have been looking at other photos in the gallery and can't find one with "Made in Sweden" on the flame burner plate spreader (unsure of correct term).
Is it possible this part is not original to the stove?

 

Just to follow up, I realize any parts can be switched out along the way, my question is has anyone seen the 8R with the same embossed flame spreader?

 

I just looked at my Primus 8R, and it does not say Made In Sweden on it. Neither does my Optimus 8R.

 

@The Warrior thank you for checking. I've looked at many photos here in the gallery and am finding the same thing. I'm beginning to think mine is not original to the stove. Kind of a bummer as I prefer to have original parts when possible.

 

I agree, original is better, but, what the heck, as long as it works.

 

Yes, the seller showed it working, so that's a good thing.
Right now I'm trying to figure out when Primus/Optimus went from the key to the knob, or knob to the key.

Neither of mine are marked. Optimus switched a couple times from knob to key to knob.

Some of my early Optimus 71s have it and have seen it on early Svea123s. Probably stopped doing it to save costs.

 

Primus 71s was trying to watch a show and type never works out well

 

I think having the "Made in Sweden" is neater than an unmarked one.

None of mine are marked.

 

The key came with Svea 123R, around 1974.

 

Just looked at my Op 8Rs and OP 99s - none of the plates is stamped, nor is my Svea 123R. They are all post 1962 models. They all have the key.
Made in Sweden was a typical Optimus marking from 1962 onwards, after the acquisition of rights to Primus liquid stove marketing and the subsequent take over of other stove brands when Optimus products were simply badge engineered as other brands.
It enabled stoves made by Optimus to be marketed as Optimus, Primus or whatever without needing bespoke parts, just a sticky label or two. Your Primus 8R is just an Optimus product with a Primus label and sold by a Primus stockist, after all.

The 8r knob is much nicer than the key IMHO

 

It's good to know I'm not alone.
I didn't think of it until you mentioned it @Majicwrench, but I didn't have a stove with a knob until now, so that's cool.

 

I have a 1973 Primus 8R, purchased new. It has the knob flame control. I have never before seen an 8R with “Made in Sweden” on the flame plate.
