This one really caught my eye, I love the legs! I got this KK #6 a few weeks ago. It has a 1922 patent date but most the ads I have found show it from 1923-24. There is very little on this stove, I checked and Terry Marsh’s site doesn’t seem show this version with the legs. The stove is 8 1/4”x 18 1/4”. It came with the pump and wrench. The fount is in great shape but had white residue in it, likely dried up fuel. I used my compressor to blow it clean. No rust that I can make out and the original paint is in great shape. The pump needed some work. I cleaned it up, put on a new leather cup and had to replace the hose. I tried to save the original but it was crumbling apart. A new hose, some fabric to wrap it and thread to bind the hose like the original. I gave it all a good clean. The valve was not shutting off completely and I found a bunch of carbon in the vaporizer. I cleaned it up with the ultrasonic cleaner and some Qtips. I filled it with white gas and lit it up. It took a long while to pre-heat but our winds are pretty strong today. Soon it settled down to a nice blue flame. I love that KK happy face. I am pretty thrilled to add this to my collection. Its such a unique looking stove, I am not sure how prevalent these were. Its a lot like my KK #3 peg leg except with a different leg style, and a bit wider. It fits my cookware great and I am excited to get out and do some cooking with it.
Fun. I have the well-rusted version of that. Yes, the legs are nice. Used it once last year and the wife commented what a classy looking stove Really need to get mine out of wherever it is hiding and get er cleaned up! Thanks for posting some inspration
@FishNChips Nice indeed. Can't help but notice the long wing slides. Maybe when you get a chance show how the legs connect. Looks like they fancied up the peg legs. Shame they did not add those fancy legs to the No.7 with fancy grate. When you do your cooking remember it has two burners!
The #6 is the same depth and 4” wider than the #3. A tape on my #6 shows it is 8.25”x18.25”. My #3 is 8.25”x14.25”. Here is a picture for size comparison The legs are similar to the peg leg, the case just has a hole in each corner the leg post inserts into. The fins on the leg pressure fit on the sides of the case to hold them in place. It was a struggle till I figured that out as the legs would just fall out!
