Hi all. Mid-fettle on a Svea 123 that came with the mini pump cap. The pip was gone but remainder of parts there. Had to use some heat to get the top pentagonal “screw” out and I burned the cap gasket out as well. My question is this: Does the retainer/piston with the o-ring under it (circled in photo) just push out from the bottom or does it unscrew? I don’t see any threads on it in the example in the picture but don’t want to risk damaging it. Thanks!
Kerophile, thanks. I had already reviewed those older threads. All I am trying to find out is if the part I circled in my attached photo just pushes out the top or is there a trick to removing it as I don't want to damage it. This is not addressed in the prior threads I reviewed. Also, thanks for earlier info on the "GSR" method for cleaning the stove. I did it this morning and it worked pretty good. Still spent some time w/ the Mother's Mag Polish to finish it up and get it nice and shiny. Yeah, I know it won't stay that way. I'll post pics when it's up and running. - Steve
Well, I answered my own question. Had the cap soaking in carb cleaner for a few hours and the piece in question came right out when I inverted the cap. Now to find an appropriate size Viton or butyl o-ring.
