Good review. Don't think I'l be getting one, but it might be the right thing for some.

I wonder if all the C-monoxide warnings are due to the fact that it looks like a catalytic heater, and some might be tempted to use it as such.

good review..but it's one of those "why" stoves.is it a gaz silent burner or something to throw out a wide even heat with out a difuser plate..or they just made it because they could..

    Hey, B2M,

Excellent review! Thanks, very much, for sharing it with us! For our stove needs, the Reactor is really too limited and I'll very probably not buy one. However, that having been said, I like the idea of it, better than the Jetboil system, which I've never really liked too much. But, again, for our needs, we want a stove that can not only boil water quickly, when needed, but can also simmer a nice home-dehydrated meal to perfection. Most "One Note Johnny" stoves, like the Reactor, or the Jetboil, do not work well for us, though they may be the Dog's Bollocks for the ramen/noodle crowd! Take care, and God Bless!

    Every Good Wish,
    Doc

Good review, but its only one step up from a Jetboil and about 5 steps down from a home brew Kap Arctic ;)

Seriously, it looks good, independant reviews say it has a high co2 output but thats no problem in a well vented tent

As said, its a good water/noodle boiler, but its not for me, that said my lad has now bought the Jetboil he had on loan off a mate for £15, he still says its crap but paid $25US ? kids

The burner reminds me of this:
HEATER The metal mesh technology looks like a different version of basically the same idea. The heat exchanger technology looks neat. I bet a nova would fit under that pot. Expand legs to fit.

    that is not silent stove

absolutly other way of gas mixing and flame stabilizing, no gas velocity - excellent efficiency

nothing new for gas and liquid fuel burning.
but very hard to realize for changing atmosphere pressure.

Very nice review. This echo's my experience. It excels as a water heater. For many this is enough. This is often my primary stove on summit attempts with a team.

The pot is very well designed and built. I have used it on my Svea 123 and Nova. It greatly improves the boil times for both stoves. The design of the heat exchanger allows it to sit on normal stoves and the fins are well protected.

The downside of this stove is the inability to use std pots and the lack of simmer. Maybe the next version will have these features. If so, I will buy one.

If you want to boil water for a group, this is the cats meow. Not as flexible as a Nova, but a very good stove in it's own right.

Just curious, have you buy the MSR Windburner?
It can simmer. I think it is the mild version of the MSR Reactor.

"solstice" was last here at CCS nearly 13 years ago. I doubt he'll be checking in soon.
