In order to clean the jet I would like to dismantle the burner bell of this Aladdin stove. Could you tell me how to proceed ? Thank you. Yannick
Hi @Yannick Michel Excuse my rusty english... First of all I take apart the windshield and pot stand from the tank. There is a locknut, pointed #1. You should unscrew it a little at least. Then, you can unscrew the burner with a fixed wrench.
I think i need to unscrew this screw bellow the burner bell but when I try to unscrew it, this is the tube below the screw which is moving.
The tube below the bell is the generator. Unscrew the nut labeled 2 on your picture above and the generator and bell will lift off the cleaning needle (pricker rod). The rod is attached to the valve so be careful not to damage the needle when lifting the generator off. Once off you can unscrew the generator from the bell.
Ok ! I finally succeed in removing the part but now the nut just under the bell seems difficult to unscrew. May be some w40 could help.
Ok ! After some W40 on the nut, I removed the burner bell… I have a question concerning this part : why are there 2 burner bells, the inner one in brass, the outer in steel ? (please see photos).
And another question : at which level should be the burner plate ? Mine is like on the photo but I see on internet some burner plates which were higher. What was the original position of this part please ? Many thanks from a Frenchman fully ignorant.
Yes Tony of course but I just would like to understand. It seems the inner bell is adjustable in a such way that the openings of the outer bell are variable in size (see photo). The Primus 71, during a period of time had this kind of double bell with 3 posituons in order to use another kind of fuel if I remember well.
"I don't know" is an acceptable answer. It is a good question - particularly with respect to government contracts, rationing, and wartime material shortages, because you can be sure that if it wasn't considered necessary the extra bell would not have been included. The bean counters would have made sure of it. Military equipment and designs are always strictly utilitarian affairs. The relative height of the burner plate will affect the flame output somewhat in terms of the air fuel ratio or AFR either "lean" or "rich".
