    Hello,

I have an old Soto windmaster stove and I went to go try it out on a 2 year old unused isobutane canister. The flame lit it then went out. When I tried again, a flame lit between the canister and the stove. I made sure the connection was really tight. This scared the shit out of me for obvious reasons.

Thought there was an issue with the stove so I bought another one and the same thing happened. Is there an issue with the canister? It’s in mint condition, so I can’t see why.

    Thank you in advance.

    William

    Is it an MSR canister?
Internet search returns results of issues of this stove and those canisters.

It’s a GSI canister. I will try my MSR stove on it and report back soon.

I have had issues with certain brand canisters in the past. One being Coleman isobutane. I won’t buy it anymore

    HI, @WilliamH ,

I've had problems with some cartridges, too, over the years. Now, I only use Primus, or MSR, as both work nicely with my Soto cartridge stoves. Give those a try, and see if that takes care of it! Take care, and God Bless!

    Every Good Wish,
    Doc

    Hi all,

    Sorry for the late reply.

Thanks to all who have tried to help.

looks like the orings weren’t sealing properly. Did think they could go bad so fast. I did have some grease on them from the manufacturer while it was in storage. Strange.
