Hi All 1st post!! A Svea 106 has fallen into my hands (I thnk a post '58 recessed filer model). No idea of its history but I'm guess it will need at least a basic seal kit (Fettle Box kit C?) before I try and fire it up.. It is missing the flame spreader and pot stands (the latter of which I thought I'd try to make), but one other question I have is regards the NRV. Do I assume it's also 'nadgered'? I tried to pressure the empty tank with transport cap fitted (once I reversed the leather cup which had been put on upside-down) - it didn't but is that even a valid test? If i need to service the NRV how do most folk remove it? I'm thinking a simple tool should be fairly easy to make.. Cheers James
I made my own tool out of a wheel-wrench - it very rarely lets me down. Its always a good idea to let that valve soak in penetrating thin oil for a few days before having a go at it for the first time. The waterhose can be removed for smaller stoves - its there to minimize the tolerance between the tool and the pump shaft. More capable Fettlers have made more sophisticated tools, which you can find in here - but this simple tool has stood me well for several years now.

Thanks both - very helpful. the Svea carries a couple of dents (patina?) and the burner is slightly on the wonk as a consequence but it would be great to get it going for camping trips or if the gas stops flowing in Europe!
