How are the Scepter fuel containers? I have 5 of their 10L water containers, and like them very much.
Scepter military stuff, no experience. Their consumer fuel cans are the same no-vent EPA spout trash everyone else is stuck with. There's a reason I ponied up for the genuine NATO fuel cans. The only consumer fuel can I've found that's worth anything is "No-Spill" brand, and then only for small engines, and it won't be sealed to the level the OP wants.
I marched back into the store, asked about any "special painter's tool", and ended up with something pretty much like that! It has a magnet and a clip for sticking it on things various ways. It's got a plastic tab and a metal tab for opening cans. I haven't used it yet. The guy at the store says I sort of "draw" with it, in a circular motion. So the empty gallon paint can and the tool is now a $9 project. The next question is how many openings and closings the can can take. I should probably have a backup plan in case of unexpected failure, i.e. more plastic grocery bags. It might not be a crazy idea if one devised a container for the funnel, that was securely mounted. I might have sufficient space in the engine compartment. But by that same token, a container could probably be mounted elsewhere on the car. Since it would only be for a fuel funnel, it could perhaps be small and uninteresting somewhere. I think though, the plastic gasketed container is actually working, for storing the funnel and matches. The dog hasn't complained, and I haven't noticed anything. The real complaints from the dog right now, are about what I assume is horrible ragweed. I can't get a straight answer out of various pollen websites. I've read that predicting pollen is much less accurate than predicting the weather. But I've noticed the air in Asheville NC is often noticeably grainy. It seems to get really magnified in my car. We slept last night with the windows completely sealed, just accepting it was a little warmer than ideal, when we first went to bed. Eventually things did cool down and we were happy for the excess heat.
Might be the air quality bothering you. This is a nationwide site I found, but the Oregon specific site I use is much better, and there's probably a better option for your specific area too. https://gispub.epa.gov/airnow/?cont...ymin=4348296.567575442&ymax=4828321.105206324 I handle poor air quality pretty well, even with air quality well into the 300's, but Sunni will get messed up bad before the air quality even gets to 100. As you're sensitive to other things, perhaps you're sensitive to this stuff too.
We're retreating from Weaverville NC in favor of Marion NC this evening. I did tons of laundry for the car today, cleaning whatever I could. There's still something bad going on, and the air in Weaverville might have something to do with it. We didn't have any problem in Marion NC a few days ago, so we'll see.
I've abandoned the Coleman 533 dual-fuel stove in the sealed paint can, the funnel and matches sealed in the "airtight" gasketed plastic container, and the can of Coleman fuel, at my Mom's for now. I don't think they're contributing to our car's air problems, but I have to be sure. We've done ok at night. When temperatures are warmer in the car, during the day, do they vent? Don't know. I think our real problem is ragweed.
