Would a fuel bottle from a Fire-Maple stove fit the MSR pump? i.e. are those threads standardized between the manufacturers of this type of liquid fuel stove?

@mcjtom - which era MSR pump?

The pump thread design changed and the MSR bottle thread did too. So there are potential issues. AFAIK the Chinese built bottles use the old SIGG pattern, which is completely compatible with the older MSR pumps. I would be less confident with the newer MSR pumps, but someone with more experience can confirm or deny. The differences are tiny and manufacturing tolerance comes into it as well.

Cheers! I have Fire-Maple, don't know which model, with 0.33 L fuel bottle. It's loud as hell (quoting my better half), and while ok it requires maintenance a bit often.

I was thinking of replacing it with a new MSR Whisperlite Int. They sell without bottles. I wonder if I could simply use.my old bottle?

p.s. Is 'Whiperlite' apt a name?

    HI, @mcjtom,

If your Whisperlite International is the newest model, it will smoke the Fire Maple and will require far less mainenance, tool It will also be much more quiet. As for the fuel bottle, I would NEVER use a Fire Maple bottle with an MSR stove. Some say you can do so, but I am not in that camp, and prefer to stick with the same brands for stove/fuel bottle combos. The newest MSR pump is their most safe one, and it will be worth the money to buy the new pump, and new fuel bottle, just to be on the safe side. Just my two cents, but I have lots of experience with MSR stoves and fuel bottles, and it's best to stick with what MSR designed. Take care, and God Bless!

    Every Good Wish,
    Doc

An additional question: is there a relatively simple way of silencing somewhat a roarer type of stove that I have?

    Lol, that is humorous.
    Get a silent stove.

Replace your roarer burner with a silent burner, an easy swop on many classic brass stoves.

Would the Whisperlite be relatively quiet?
