Hi. Some time ago I bought, very occasionally, an old Gustav Barthel spirit stove, Norma E01. I already have an E21, so I also wanted its " smaller sister". When I bought it, it was quite rusty and dirty. So I decided to restore her a bit.Before I took her apart for cleaning I did a test and found that she burns fine. To start with, I decided to change the adjustment handle, which looked unoriginal, and although it was cracked, it was really solidly made ( steel hardware). I found in the garbage some wooden handle from an old drawer with a threaded bushing in the middle. I painted it black. Then I threaded the original rod with a thread cutter (M4) and, using special thread glue, connected it to the wooden handle. The next step was to remove and inspect the filter( wick) from the evaporator tube. For , almost 100 years it looked quite good. Nevertheless, I decided to replace it. To make a new one, I used a stranded fiberglass cord that is used to seal the stove door. Then I mechanically cleaned the stove body and priming cup from rust and painted with heat-resistant paint. I slightly cleaned the burner components and put everything together. Finally, I did a test, which went well. Thank you for your attention. I will post the remaining photos in the reference gallery.
