    Morning all,
    Just fiddling with a recent acquired Optimus 8r last night and found some wicking in the tank. Is this an addition or factory installed please? Does it aid the self pressurisation process?
    Thanks,

    Correct. It is fitted into the fuel feed.

    @Nickyboy

    Look through the fettling threads for 8Rs before you launch into it. You need to treat that fuel line to tank joint carefully. You may need to use some heat at the thread, so the tank needs to be free of fuel; and you must be very careful with the hex. It’s easier the screw the tank off a clamped hex that the other way around.

    Hence… look at other fettled first.

    @Tony Press, totally understood. It will not actually be today's fettle, I have other things to do. Advice appreciated though, will study resources before getting gung-ho!!! Have you done work on 8r yourself?

    Plus 1 to what Tony said. Research and patience. There is a fixture I made from wood that was a design from @presscall on clamping the burner assembly to reduce the chance of damage.
