I have a coleman model 413E stove that I got a little bit ago. After going over it and cleaning it up, I put fuel in it and started it up. I noticed that the flame for the main burner burns higher even when the control valve is only a quarter turn or maybe a little more. It will get higher as the valve is opened more. So far, the only way to lower the flame somewhat is to start the secondary burner. I have a 425D stove and the flame isn't as high with the control valve in the same position. Is it common with the 413E to have a high flame or is there something wrong with the generator? any help will be greatly appreciated.
Check and see that the generator needle is intact and comes through the jet some when the valve is closed. If the needle is gone, excessive fuel might be delivered, even at small valve opening. Otherwise, try operating the stove at lower pressure.
Most Colemans will get some flame out of the primary burner when opened wide up, till you open secondary. There is enough fuel coming through jet to run BOTH burners, when you are only using one, it is too rich. Does it go to blue when you close valve a bit? If it still flames, yes, check needle, you should see it just sticking thru when closed.
Saw needle sticking through so I know it's there. Flame is still blue Just high. Lowered the pressure in tank and flame wasn't as high. Thanks for thew help in what to do.
