I can buy a Radius ?? The seller sent me a picture. The fount is very rusty. I think it’s steel. Has this model (21 I think) been produced with a steel tank! Thanks!!
@fjildman I've never seen a 21 with a steel tank, but there are always surprises! Can you post the photo here so we can help you further?
Looks like a fairly complete Radius 21 to me Well used, and the clasp to hold the tin lid closed has been replaced with a home made version but a nice outfit with the bits that are usually lost (windshield, flame ring, spanner...) The tank is brass, it has oxidised with age, it's not steel.
No problems with buying this Radius 21. Although, using it for melting lead for fishing is an interesting use of the stove If you buy it, I do suggest changing the seals and check if the pump leather is in working order. The fettlebox, the online shop of the owner of this site, has excellent parts and service for these types of stoves. There is olielamp.nl and qvist.nl and they are ok, but Ross has just that edge if you ask me. En als je hulp nodig hebt in het Nederlands, stuur mij een berichtje. Op het openbare forum wordt geacht Engels te praten.
There have been quite a few stoves with a known history of lead melting on this site over the years. And some which show evidence (blobs of lead all over the tank ) And it is not unknown for stoves to have been used for occasional soldering jobs in workshops- unlike a blowlamp, you can put a kettle on when you've finished!
