Hi, All, Next "British made" from my shelves. It is old good Parasene which slightly differs from it's family. This stove has rather unusual - for Parasene - filler cup with safety valve as you can see above and below: It has also safety warning painted on the tank : The rest: The pump knob is replaced. The original one was partialy damaged, so I turned new one on my table lathe: May be not quite professionaly ... But more or less it functions! Thanks for watching. CU
The "warning" is amazing. Have never seen that on a classic brassie. Wonder what brought it about. That said, there's many a superfluous 'warning' on artifacts and products here that damage the aesthetics thereof.
I have a soft spot for these much underrated stoves with the wonderful bold tank stamping. Supply far outstrips demand in the UK at present and so many are going for non-ferrous scrap. Such a shame when they could soon be brought back to life to do decades more useful service if ever nèeded. Great work on the reproduction pump knob, good to see a stove with such an obviously interesting history brought back to life. Obviously pure speculation, but my immediate guess was it could have been used by a Boy Scout group, the warning being added after having to wash down a paraffin-soaked youth! But then I do have quite an imagination...!
Well it surely wasn’t inscribed there by the manufacturer - misspelled. I can’t imagine that’s a ‘message to self’ but more probably by a scout leader on a stove his young charges would use. Odd thinking though, since the air screw would be opened to shut down the burner and attempting to unscrew the Parasene fuel cap to release air pressure would quickly prompt the user to release the air screw anyway.
@Ed Winskill , @Blackdog, @presscall, @Knee Thank you for your suggestions and opinions. Scouting may be solution of the origine of warning - or instruction, seems to me too. Stanisław
Hi @Stanisław Grajewski, very nice addition i think the filler cap was not original to the Parasene stove, it looks like a Monitor filler cap with built in safety vale
Back when that stove was made the USA wasn't crazy with lawsuit inspired warning labels. Today such a stove would not have such labels either, it wouldn't be manufactured or imported due to fear of product liability lawsuits.
