I found this very small stove with this blue box and I want to ask if anyone knows this box and by the way what the original one looks like. Another question is whether Optimus 30 was a version for Portugal because Lisbon has been written. Miguel
It's possible that is repainted original tin. Someone may have better luck but I will not add more than that re the tin. Re the stove Congrats!! what a beauty. @Miguel Chaby You have a very nice "bun-foot" Optimus stove. A brief history of the Vacuum Oil Company is as follows. The Vacuum Oil Company was founded in 1866 in Rochester, New York, USA. In 1879 Vacuum was acquired by Standard Oil. In 1911, Standard Oil was broken up and Vacuum became an independent company again. In 1931, Vacuum and Standard Oil of New York (Socony) merged to form Socony Vacuum Corp. In the 1920s, Vacuum Oil Company produced kerosene (among other products) and sold it under the name "Sunflower Kerosene". And they contracted with several European manufacturers (Hasag, Optimus, etc.) for pressure/wick lamps, heaters and stoves and sold them under the Sunflower brand. I'm not sure about the real background of why Vacuum sold these products, it could be a kind of sales promotion. I have one of their pressure lanterns. Please see the images. Best regards Shinzo
