Could I have your thoughts on this stove please? It's a 96. Been used many times in the past but not for 12 months. Fuel is good ( used in other stoves fine). Pre heated to within an inch of its life! Lol. First thoughts were enlarged jet BUT a) it was fine last use. No yellow in flame. b). @presscall redid the jet in this! We all know the quality of his fine work!
Leak around repair? If done with the hypodermic needle, maybe the silbraze did not seal completely. Duane
@G1gop Can you provide a close-up photo of the vapouriser tip Alan? If Duane’s hypothesis is correct it’ll most likely be visible. A PM would have been preferable to me without throwing it open for general discussion and speculation. If my work is faulty I’ll re-do it. John
@Prescall Please do not take it as a go at you at ll. Nothing was further from my mind.!! I whole heartedly apologise if it is taken that way by anyone! I just couldn't understand what would cause it. I have tried the lipstick on another 96 and it works fine. Thats whats puzzling me. I am SURE it is not you repair in ANy way. Alan
There are NO visible cracks and as I have said the lipstick works fine on another 96. That's whats puzzling me.
Ok so after removing my foot from my mouth. I have tried two more lipsticks to prove that it's not that. The first one was the same (taken from a good and proved working 96). Same thing: Then a practically new lipstick from another 96 (NOS?): As you can see the same. I then removed the fuel and washed the tank(The fuel has been fine in another stove but is a new batch). Then all of a sudden BINGO!! A bit of a yellow flame but roaring as normal. (sorry forgot to take a pic). So looks like the fuel for some reason (it does smell different. Will check with the supplier. I am now going to soak the lipstick in some WG and make sure it is totally clean and hopefully all should be well. There was NEVER in my mind any doubt about the lipstick, but i couldn't work out what it was. Still don't fully understand but hey ho. Again my apologies to anyone who I may of offended. alan
@G1gop Hey Alan, I apologise for my ruffled feathers and appreciate your prompt and gracious response. Mostly, I’m chuffed you’ve found the cause and that it wasn’t the vapouriser, or vapourisers. Dodgy fuel eh? ‘Multi-fuel’ 96’s surely are not! Regards, John
Yes It is the first time I have had kero where you can put a bit on a tray and it lights with a match! smoke smells 'plasticy' also. Me thinks it has some other distilates in it!! going to contact the seller!
There is a possibility of confusion in british and norwegian terms as the fuel is named paraffin/parafin while most other people use that name for a quite different product that may be a fuel or a lubricant or a solid sealing agent.
