    Hi Folks

    I acquired four stoves from Facebook Marketplace for £20.00 a couple of years ago and since then they have sat in the darkest recesses of my workshop. I deemed it too hot to work in the garden today and took a few moments for myself.

    One of the stoves is a Monitor date coded 11762. I picked up a complete pump assembly and a an outer flame cap (correct name please?) to replace those missing. As I was fitting one of Ross’s burner washers I noticed the Primus silent burner was new to me. It’s overall construction appears to be copper, at least it is definitely copper coloured.

    Jet or nipple.

    The only markings are: PRIMUS MADE IN SWEDEN (top of burner) and AC13 (burner nut)

    As can be seen from the last photograph the jet is hexagonal, something I have not come across before. If anyone can tell me any information regarding dates or likely original stoves it would have been supplied with I would be most grateful.

    Many thanks.

    Regards Jeremy

    A copper hue, certainly Jeremy, but made of brass.

    It’s a burner to fit a Primus No.10 or No.25 stove. A powerful burner, the jet nipple has a 0.4mm orifice and a 6mm socket will fit it - short extension to join the socket and ratchet.

    Burner No.4140 in this chart. ‘AC’ date letters (1938). Good you have the inner cap but the outer cap is unique to it and can be an elusive spare.

    Many thanks for the information, I’ll be keeping my eyes open for a suitable outer cap now I know what particular beast it is.

    Regards, Jeremy

    Hi John @presscall. I am aware of the apparent discrepancy but unfortunately Primus did not stamp part Nos. on the individual parts of their burners and parts can be interchangeable between similarly sized burners.
    I offered the very old post of measurements so that Jeremy can make comparisons and would have some idea of what burner he has, and what outer cap he needs to look for….

    Best Regards,
    Kerophile.

    Please pardon my interrupting.
    Gentlemen,
    kerophile,

    John,
    I think you reveal for us that this is a learning opportunity (if i get this right, if i goofed... never mind).

    @Jeremy Belgrave-Lock,
    there is no hurry but the educated suggestion is you have the 4140 burner used by stove No. 25 (& 10).
    Again, if i get this right, you are uniquely positioned to provide answers (rare details). It may turn out you have details that are missing from the list (measure your inner cap to confirm). If inner cap measures larger than a No. 5 and smaller than a No.6... is something you need to know in any case (and then you teach and we all learn). IF your inner cap is not "in-between" the two... my interruption can stop here/now.

    If we continue... Jeremy, You need to know. Consider chart (kerophile and John have both offered over the years):
    [IMG]

    Consider the following rare details. "the list" kerophile has put together...
    (I've taken the liberty of "starting" to fill-in >>details that are missing from the list ...)
    the list:
    Primus No.4 stove, burner 4125;
    Inner Cap = 33.5mmOD, but lip at bottom extends to about 35mm diam. Centre hole diam.= 16.3mm, Height = 14.5mm
    Outer Cap = 38mm OD, but about 40mm on lower lip. Height at max, the top is domed, = 24mm.
    5 Rows of holes.

    Primus No.5 stove, burner 4138;
    Inner Cap = 39.5mmOD, 42mmOD on bottom lip. Centre hole diam. = 16.4mm. Max Height = 16mm
    Outer Cap = 44.6mm OD, 47mm on bottom lip. Max. Height = 26mm.
    4 Rows of holes.

    >> Primus No. 25, burner 4140;
    Inner Cap = ??mmOD, ??mmOD on bottom lip. Centre hole diam. = ??mm. Max Height = ??mm.
    Outer Cap = not yet available

    Primus No.6, burner 4142;
    Inner Cap = 44mmOD, 45mmOD on bottom lip. Centre hole diam. = 16.4mm. Max Height = 20mm.
    Outer Cap = 49mmOD, 52mmOD on bottom lip. Max Ht = 26mm.
    5 or 6 Rows of holes.

    carry on (no hurry). i gotta run
