Does anyone know the size of the nipple jet on a Juwel Number 6 vapouriser should be? Mine measures up at 0.55 which I assume is too big I want to peen it down before fitting new mesh inside it. TIA Nick
Hi Nick I don't have any way of measuring, but I can't fit a .3mm wire or any standard size wire prickers through mine. Ray

@Ray123 just noticed your avatar looks like it’s going well so I have answered my own question. Is that a Bernie dawg flame plate on it?
If I had to guess I'd say .28mm but I can't confirm that. I haven't fired it up for a few years and forget what wire I used at the time. I'll take a look at it later and see what's what. Yes that's a BD flame plate. Before I had that I made one from steel plate that worked OK. Dimensions should be on the site somewhere.
@nmp Fired my Juwel yesterday. I've had the stove since June 2013 so a ten year anniversary firing was due. The jet hole is so small it's barely visible and I can't fit any wire I have through it. Even so, 1 pump sends a fountain of fuel through. Sorry I can't be of more help but thanks for your post that gave me a good reason to revisit these awesome burners. They are nearly silent and produce a wider than usual flame pattern. Art and Fire, what's not to like.
@Ray123 many thanks I fired mine last night and it’s definitely oversized all I got was yellow sooty flames. So into the realms of peening we go! Glad this prompted you into firing the old girl up! cheers Nick
@Nicola Francesco Elia @Ray123 I Peened it down to about 0.25 and repacked the lipstick with wire mesh. A Much better flame but a bit lopsided unfortunately, plus the thick copper flame plate I made is not as good as it could be. It may be over fueling still. I may have to bite the bullet and get a Bernie Dawg flame plate to get an accurate idea of how it performs.
That’ll shed oxide scale like crazy Nick, sufficient to disrupt combustion and jet output. If you like I’ll give the vapouriser a hypodermic needle insert, which would produce a properly-aligned jet output, whatever you decide to do about the flame plate. John
Good eveng @nmp. If I may interject. I never forged lipstick to Juwel 6, but when forging to 96, every time, after checking the diameter I did a test by pouring water into the tank and pumping. Then you can see well if the direction of the jet is vertical. If it was at an angle, I marked the spot near the hole and lightly forged from the opposite side. And so, until the result. Of course, remembering not to plug the hole. I do not know if I helped anything, but I share my humble experience

Hi John @presscall thanks for that kind offer. I may take you up on the offer! You are correct about the oxide, I used the copper as it was in my stock (and easy to work) as a way of testing the stove and never intended it as a permanent thing, the Bernie Dawg plate was already in my sights. I will take a look using our friend @Knee Stanislaw’s suggestion to see if I have it aligned first out of interest and try his remedy! The prospect of dragging the brass mesh back out does not fill me with joy it took about 3or 4 hours first time, but out it will have to come if I send it to you John. How come, Nick? A pair of forceps or even a hook formed on a stiff piece of wire serves with the usual ‘96’ vapouriser.
@presscall the Juwel 6 lipstick unfortunately has a very tiny hole to insert or remove the mesh, for that reason I never replaced it Nicola
Ah right, I’ve not examined one. @nmp Complicated construction evidently Nick. Were I do do the repair you wouldn’t have to remove the gauze. The heat to silbraze the needle insert is very localised, just to the tip, and wouldn’t impact on the gauze inside.
